I call out for a cab as we exit the airport. The chilly air nips at my nose as I scan the street for any sign of a taxi. Finally, I spot a yellow car with its "available" light on and wave it down. The driver pulls up beside us and pops the trunk for our luggage. As we settle into the back seat, I give the driver the address, and we're off.
⁂
We get close to the house, which is located just outside Westminster. "This is beautiful." I look over at Raven, who is in awe. She steps out as I grab our luggage.
"It's alright." I shrug my shoulders, turn to the cabbie, and hand him a tip. "Thanks, mate." I take the keys out of my pocket and proceed to ascend the stairs. I unlock the door and allow Raven to enter first. She raises an eyebrow and stares at me.
"You were raised here?" She turns to the staircase that spirals up to the second floor. "Between here and Cladwell, yes." I smile at her.
"Mr. Clay, It's so good to see you," I turn to see one of our housing staff, Reina, standing there. "Hey, Reina. It's good to see you also. This is my girlfriend, Raven."
"Ah, Miss Raven, it's so nice to meet you. I've heard wonderful things about you." Raven smiles, and her face turns red. "It's nice to meet you too." Reina smiles. "She's very pretty, Mr. Clay." Reina nudges my arm, and I let out a little laugh.
"I know, she's perfect." I look at Raven, who is blushing. "Reina, you and the rest of the staff can go home. There is no need to be here this week. Take some time off."
"But Mr. Clay, your father and mother—" She starts, but I cut her off. "No need to tell my parents. It's our little secret." I wink at her.
"Boy, you haven't changed. Still charming as always." She laughs, "Okay, fine, but no trouble." She walks away as I smile once again. I take our luggage and go to my room.
Raven moves toward the bay window. She places her head on my chest as I approach from behind. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, this place is breathtaking." I wrap my arms around her waist, and we both stare out at the stunning view. The sun is setting over us, casting a warm glow on everything in sight.
"Let's unpack and head out to eat. Let's take a drive." I smile at her, she kisses my cheek and heads to unpack.
⁂
After unpacking, she throws on leggings with a beige oversized sweater and a toque that matches. She looks cute.
I grab my keys to my motorcycle. I hand Raven a helmet, and she laughs. "I didn't know you could ride." She smiles. "Get on, let's get out of here." I say as I start the thing up.
"Where are we going?" she asks while hopping onto the back and wrapping her arms around my waist. "To a place called Camden. Trust me, you will love it." I smile, taking her hand and kissing it.
As we arrive on the crowded streets of Camden, Raven laughs as the people dance around and just have fun. She looks over at me with excitement. She jumps off, and I follow. She runs off, looking around at all the venues lining up along the street, carefully passing through the crowd of dancing people.
"Clay?" I hear my name. "Bro, it is you. It's been a long time, mate." I see my old friend Mark walk up to me.
"Mark, It's nice to see you too. What's up?" I say as I keep my eye on Raven. This is a new place, and I don't want something to happen to her.
"Not much, when did you get to town?" Mark asks, looking around at our surroundings.
"Early this morning." I cross my arms, still keeping my eye on my girl. I watch as she smiles and waves at a group of kids playing nearby.
"Hey, sexy," An annoying voice I never thought I'd hear again approaches. "Veronica." I say with distaste in my voice.
"It's been a while. While you're in town, we should get together like old times." She smiles, and I feel myself gag.
"I'll pass." I feel arms encircle my body as the scent of peppermint strikes me.
It's about damn time.
"Who's this?" Veronica seers. I see the anger build within her as I reach my arms around Raven, pulling her to me and wrapping my arms around her waist. "Did you have fun?" I whisper in Raven's ear, ignoring Veronica's glare. Raven nods, and I lean in to kiss her. "This is my girlfriend, Raven." I introduce her to the group.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mark." He smiles at her. "Hi!" Ray smiles as Veronica rolls her eyes.
Music blares over the speakers, and Raven gets all excited. "Let's dance." She looks at me with that damn smile that I can never say no to. "He doesn't dance, sweety," Veronica states in a vicious tone.
I take Ray's hand and walk away. Pressing my body against hers, hands on her hips, and her arms around my neck, I lean in and kiss her. She looks at me, then over at Veronica. "Another Sloane?"
"Sadly, yes, but less dangerous." She smiles and pulls me closer, locking our lips together. I know what she is doing, but I don't care. I enjoy it when she plays around. "Let's get out of here before I rip your clothes off in the nearby alley."
She takes my hand and heads toward the bike. Before we get on, I can't stop myself. My hand is placed on her cheek, and my mouth finds hers. The sensation of what I want to do to her runs through my mind. I start the bike, and Raven holds tight. I drive and speed home, going in and out of traffic.
My hand is on her thigh as she looks around with her arms around my torso. Her hand flows through the air, catching the light breeze hitting us. The moonlight hits her face just right, and I can't help but smile as I look at her in the side mirror. I was never meant to be a knight in shining armour, but she makes me want to be one. The person who will love her through anything and everything.
