I hold onto her because I do love her. To prove to the rest of the world that nothing can separate us, I would wed this girl right here, right now. Anything I could do to help the girl I love. I'm confident that she feels the same way about us because I know how upset she is at the idea that her parents' love was outlawed. I can relate to it.
"Hey, look at me; we will get through this, just like everything else," I tell her. Together, we will build a future where our love is celebrated and not condemned.
"How? They don't want us together. They think that my feelings don't matter," she cries. My heart breaks for her as those words escape her lips. I hate seeing her in so much agony, but I know that together we can overcome any obstacle and prove to the world that love knows no boundaries. We hold each other tight, knowing that our love will always be stronger than any negativity that may come our way.
Finally, I say, "I know a little bit about two people who shouldn't have been together, and they are still going strong." I try to reassure her.
She looks at me, confused, like I have three heads or something; the look is cute. "What do you mean?" She asks me.
"Clay's mom is human," Logan tells her. "What? That's against everything that vampires stand for," she states, sitting down on the couch.
"Exactly! This is what I mean: my parents met when they were our age, and everyone told them that their love for each other was a mistake. They didn't care, and they didn't listen to anyone. They got married months after dating because they knew what they had was real and no one could tell them otherwise. They married very young, and everyone thought they wouldn't last, but then they had me, and they're still together," I explain, cupping her face. "I never understood how my dad knew right away that he wanted to marry my mom and be with her forever. But since you came into my life, I now understand his feelings," I say, looking down. "Because I feel that way."
Raven looks at me, searching my face to see if I'm telling the truth; she presses her mouth against mine, and I take that as she knows I am. "So, what do we do now?" Logan asks.
I run my hands through my hair. "Well, it's only nine in the morning. Hell of a way to wake up. Guess the girls can go lie down for a bit while you and I run some errands, get food, and things like that for the cabin, and then once we get back, we can get ready to leave."
"A nap sounds good!" Raven says, leaning on my shoulder.
"Yeah, it does. It's been one messed up morning," Brie states.
Raven kisses me and heads upstairs with Brie; Logan sits next to me. "Did you mean everything you said to her?" He asks me.
"Yes, I'm going to marry that girl," I reply, gazing up at the ceiling. "I just hope she can put up with me for that long," I add with a chuckle.
"All jokes aside. Are you sure about this? You're only 22, and she is 19?" he asks with caution, and I turn to look at him.
I tell him, "I love her, and I'm not going to let anyone stop what we have. I've never been more certain of anything in my life."
He pats my shoulder and laughs. I look at him for a reason for his actions. "Don't kill me, but what if you, you know? Ask her this week while we are at the cabin; Brie and I could help."
"That is a great idea. Who knew you had such brilliant ideas in your head? "I chuckle
"They come out sometimes," he laughs. "All alright, first up, ring, then the grocery store."
"Let's go."
⁂
It is noon by the time we return. Logan informs Brie of the plan while taking the ring to conceal it. Raven is soundly sleeping when I arrive upstairs; I don't want to wake her, but we should move quickly. I move her hair away from her face while I discreetly sit next to her. I give her a gentle shake, trying not to startle her awake. She stirs slightly, but her eyes remain closed.
"Babe, you need to get up," I whisper. She grunts and turns over. Well, I know one way to get her up. I put my hand in between her legs and move my way up.
"Okay, okay! I'm up," She yells, jumping up from the bed, and I laugh. Once we are finished packing, I load up the car and tell her Brie and Logan have already left. I open the door for her, and she looks at me. "I love you."
"I love you." I kiss her, and for the moment, everything disappears again.
⁂
She leans her head against the window as we get in, and I hold her hand as we begin to drive. She looks out the window as I turn to face her and smile. Life used to be all about me, but now that I've changed, it's all about us. I am aware of her concern that another female will cause me to forget about her. However, no girl in this world can replace my favourite girl. Every day, my love for her grows deeper.
I know that I am not perfect, but with her by my side, I feel like I can conquer anything. She brings out the best in me, and I am determined to do the same for her. Our love is not just a feeling; it is a commitment to each other, and I will do everything in my power to make it last.
I take her hand and give it a gentle squeeze. "You're the only one for me," I say, "and nothing can change that." I can see the worry in her eyes start to fade away as I speak these words. She smiles back at me, and I know that she believes me. Our love may not be perfect, but it's real, and strong. We'll face any challenges that come our way together, and come out even stronger on the other side.
