"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked Ben who stood in the lobby.

"Uh, I was waiting on Miranda."

"Everything okay?"

He nervously darted his eyes and rubbed his hands together.

"I'm having surgery." He confessed.

"Miranda found a growth that uh... That could be testicular cancer."

"What! Dude, what, are you okay.."

"See, that's what I don't need. I don't need anyone's pity."

"There is no pity. I'm genuinely concerned, Ben. We love you and would be devastated if anything happened."

"I know.."

He sadly sighed, checking his watch.

"I gotta go."

I nodded, feeling my heart sink at his pained expression. I made my way to the elevator, stopping when I saw a woman smiling in Jackson's face.

I scoffed, watching him just stand there. She was too close for my liking.

"Well, Jackson Avery, it was lovely to work with you." The woman smiled, writing her number on a piece of paper.

I stepped beside Jackson, glaring while he stared at the woman, amused.

"I'll see you around." She spoke then walked off.

I looked at the paper in Jackson's hand then to him. He smirked, waiting for my response.

"I'll kill her." I simply stated.

"Woah. Nobody needs to kill anybody." He laughed.

"Oh, yeah? Rip it up."

"Excuse me?" He held back a laugh.

"So now you're deaf? Rip up the paper, Jackson."

"Or?" He challenged.

"I'll kill you too."

"Alright, alright. I have no doubt about that." He admitted then ripped the paper in half, throwing it away.

"This, honestly, isn't funny."

His smile dropped when he realized what I meant.

"Babe, no.. it was only a joke. I wasn't even interested. You don't have to worry about going that again, I swear on my life."

"Right."

"You ready to get out of here? I got something planned."

I eyed him and nodded, wondering what it could be. We made our way into the elevator, being briefly stopped by a young woman.

"Sage? I mean Dr. Bailey?"

 Bailey?"
