"I don't know. What do you think? Mom said nothing too fancy." Jackson asked.

I observed our decorated apartment, looking at the waiters and staff perfecting everything.

"It looks great."

"Damn it." He cursed.

"I'm trying to get this thing to stand up straight."

I poured some of the wax in the bottom then stuck the candle in. It finally stood up straight.

"She'd better love it. God knows she gave me enough stipulations. No more than people, no foundation people, no photographers. Only the doctors that saved my life and a few friends, child." He joked, mocking her.

I adjusted my dress, fingering combing my hair in the mirror.

"Wow." He whispered then wrapped his arms around my waist from behind.

"You are beautiful, love. You look so good.. I bet you feel good, too." I shook my head at his comment while he looked around.

"You know... people aren't really gonna be here for a while. So, I don't see why we can't..." He whispered, trailing off before kissing behind my ear.

I held back a moan, stopping myself and turning to my husband.

"There are people working here. They'll know." He shrugged.

"Well, let them know." He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me up the stairs.

After our shenanigans, we joined everyone else back downstairs, just as knocks at the door sounded.

"Hey, hey." Jackson greeted, letting Richard and Alex in.

"You know the party's catered, right?"

"Well, it's rude not to bring anything." Richard said, handing the pink box to the woman as Alex threw his jacket on the couch.

"Hey, Pierce! Did you see it? That lady you hated wrote an article about you. I'll text it to all of you."

"Kiki? What kind of article?" She asked.

"How Bravery and Self-Advocacy Saved My Life." She read, scoffing then calling the woman a bitch.

"I thought you gave all your money away. I could fit my whole loft inside your fireplace." Alex said, eating one of the egg rolls.
