"This storm will bring in a lot of casualties. We're gonna need to make room for them, so let's discharge all patients that can be. Post-op and long-term patients are gonna be transferred to Seattle Pres. We're gonna bring in supplementals... water, food, meds, lighting." Owen announced to everyone.
"Hey, how is she?" I whispered to Ben. He looked at me, sighing.
"Not good. She won't come out of the lab and she keeps running all these tests on herself."
Since the incident, Aunt Mir locked herself in her lab, not speaking to anyone except him. She refused to let any of us in since she feels like we betrayed her and didn't have her back.
"We're gonna be checking and refueling the backup generators.
Most importantly, we're gonna need to print hard copies of all computerized patient charts in case of a power loss." Owen continued."All of them? Do we have time to.." Jackson asked. I rolled my eyes hearing his voice.
"I'll do that." Aunt Mir spoke from the back.
"Bailey, it's good to have you back. I'll put you on the O.R. rotation." Owen said.
"Uh, I mean I'll do the charts." She corrected him.
"Folks, they're saying that this is going to be a bad one, but we have three days to prepare. Let's do it and be ready when the storm hits. Thank you."
As everyone dispersed, I followed Richard's line of sight to Aunt Mir. Their eyes met; she quickly walked out of sight.
"How's she doing?" Richard asked Ben.
"She feels like she can't go into an O.R. She thinks she'll kill anyone she touches. I tried to convince her to come down to L.A. with me, take some time off, but then we heard about the storm, and she said she had to stay and help." Ben relayed.
"Anything I can do?" Richard offered.
"I wish there was, but honestly..." Ben started.
"Anyone but me. I know." Richard said, hanging his head with sad eyes before walking away.
"I should be asking how you're doing. I heard about the Jackson thing." I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
"I'm not here to hit a nerve or anything. Just checking on family."
"I'm fine." I dryly said.
"No, you're not. Try again."
"Benjamin- ! Please, let it go." He lightly gasped hearing his government.
"I'm definitely not leaving it alone. Tell me what you're gonna do."
"I don't know. I know that I have patients who need me and I don't have time for his bullshit."
"Has he apologized?"
"Yes. Is it supposed to mean something?" Ben laughed.
"Miranda said you were mean but damn, I didn't know it was like that. Look, in my opinion, give him a chance. Sit down, talk with him— actually, listen to what he has to say before you lose your head."
