The Wedding
Althea’s POV
“Ate. Can I go home now?”
“Why? Hindi pa tayo nagtatagal ah.”
“Kasi ate-“ I suddenly hugged him.
“You really grow up. And I’m proud of you.” Inalis niya yung pagkakayakap ko sa kanya.
“Hindi na nga ako bata ate.”
“Really?”
“Just look. I will be the most eligiable bachelor of Montezor Clan.” Then I suddly cant resist to laugh. “Why?”
“Nothing. It’s just that-“
“Hey ate I’m serious.”
“Ok. Ok. I will expect that ok.” Kinuha ko yung cellphone ko. “ Hello Tito Samuel. Pakisundo po si Toby. Ahh ok po sige.” Binaba ko na yun. “Now wait for him ok?”
“Ok Ate. Sa labas na ko.”
“Magiingat ka ha.”
“Ahh ate. I think I have to be here in January?”
“Why?”
“It’s youre wedding.” I just smiled at him sadly. Then umalis na siya.
“Al. Let’s go.”
“Yuan wait.”
“Why?’
“Can we talk.”
“Of course.”
RING RING RING
Unknown number. Sino kaya ito. “Hello?”
“Iha.”
“Tita Julienne?”
“I need you Iha. Si Cole kasi nakipagaway sa bar.”
“Ano po? Pero Tita hindi nap o ako kailangan diyan.”
“Please iha. For the last time before youre wedding.”
Nagisip ako sandali. Tumingin ako sandali kay Yuan. “Ok po.” Binaba ko na yun. “Aalis muna ko. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
“Saan ka pupunta?”
“I just need to fix something.”
“Is it Cole?”
“Yes.” And then umalis na ko. Dumeresto na ko sa condo ni Cole. Kumatok ako at pinagbukasan ako ni Tita Julienne.
“You’re here at last.”
“Good evening po. Nasan po siya?”
“Nasa kwarto niya.”
“Sige po.” Pumasok na ko as kwarto. Nakita ko na nakaupo siya sa dulo ng kama niya at nakayuko. Hindi man lang niya binuksan yung ilaw.
“Cole.”
“Why are you here? Umalis ka na.”
Tumingin ako sandali sa kanya. “I will but before that I want I’m sorry and thank you for everything. I will not forget you because…” Masakit para sa akin na mawala ka dahil isa ka sa mga taong nagpapasaya sa akin. Pero alam kong masasaktan ka. Hindi ko napigilang umiyak. Hindi naman niya ko makikita ngaun dahil madilim. “… you’re one of my best friend.” Tumalikod na ko para buksan yung pinto.
“Don’t go please.” Naramdaman kong umiiyak din siya. “Please, stay with me.”
This time humarap ako sa kanya at niyakap siya. Niyakap din niya ko. “Please, kalimutan mo na ko. Live youre life like the Cole that I know.” Tumingin ako sa kanya. “Mahal kita pero hanggang kaibigan lang because I still love him.” Umalis na ko at binuksan yung pinto.
