I didn't blame Kieran for what happened to me. I knew it was a part of the training, but damn him for letting it get to the point where Mateo broke my damn nose. Sure I healed quickly, but broken bones took freaking forever.

I held an ice pack to my nose with one hand as my other held a cup of warm blood - courtesy of an almost expired blood bag. It tasted like absolute ass, but I could feel my body starting to fix itself.

Now just to figure out how to deal with the after effects of drinking blood without alerting the three men in my house.

"Why didn't you think blood lust was a possibility?" Lucian sounded irritated. "That could have ended terribly."

Kyler took the ice pack away from me and put some ointment over my nose. It smelled like mint, and it tingled the moment it was put on my skin.

Kieran shook his head. "I'm not sure how that was a you problem. Mateo is mine. If she killed him, that would have been on me."

Lucian stepped up to Kieran, the toes of his shoes maybe an inch away. "I wasn't worried about your piece of shit vampire. I was worried that Mateo was going to kill her."

"Mateo has control over his blood lust." Kieran didn't seem phased at all. "I figured that since she didn't have blood lust regarding actual blood, the other form of blood lust wasn't a possibility. Generally speaking, if a vampire doesn't have one, they don't have the other."

"And that's on fucking assumptions." Lucian sneered.

Kyler glanced at the emptying bag of blood in my hand and watched as I slowly drained it. It tasted like shit, and my stomach - now somewhat used to the finer blood in life - curled like it wanted to reject it. It made me sick.

Kyler took the bag from me and threw it away once I finished it. Then he came back and pressed the ice back against my nose. It was almost healed, it just ached now. If I was born powerless, I might have needed a nose job after what happened.

"She's an anomaly, Lucian." Kieran sighed. "If I assumed the worst would happen every time, I'd wrap her in a bubble and never let her go."

Lucian laughed so abruptly that both Kyler and I turned our attention to him. It wasn't a happy laugh by any stretch of the imagination. He actually sounded kind of pissed, and by the reaction Kyler was having to it, it wasn't a good thing. Kyler's shoulders tensed, kind of like he was ready to jump up and stop whatever it was Lucian was planning, which ultimately caused me to be on high alert.

Lucian's smile dropped and he glared at Kieran. "You don't get to choose whether she gets wrapped in a bubble or not. Not after that."

"And you do?" Kieran tilted his head.

I tapped Kyler's hand, and he slowly brought the ice away from my face. He continued to watch his alpha. I watched Kieran.

Kieran seemed like he was calm and collected, but there was something coiling inside of him. It wasn't necessarily anger, but it was something close.

"No." Lucian shook his head. "But you sure as fuck don't."

"Apparently I see more in her than you do." Kieran shrugged. "You see her as this helpless little lamb who needs protecting."

All this like I wasn't even there. I continued to sit there watching. Maybe they forgot I was there and this was some top dog pissing contest.

"No," Lucian narrowed his eyes, "that is the exact opposite of what I see. But what I do see is someone who is not qualified to be beating the ever loving shit out of an ancient as fuck vampire. He has years upon years of fighting experience, she has next to none. And if you hadn't figured it out, Mateo would rather see her dead than help her learn to fight."

Kieran kept his mouth closed, which threw the entire room into an almost deafening silence. Lucian's eyes were dark, almost murderous as he stared down the seemingly unphased vampire.

Kyler was all but vibrating next to me with held in emotions. As someone who was empathetic, he was probably feeling how tense his alpha was. Hell, I didn't even have that ability and I could feel it.

"Are you quite done," Kieran finally asked.

"Do you want me to decapitate you," Lucian replied, voice way too calm in contrast to his posture.

Kieran's lip began curling up, and that's when I decided to step in. Nothing good would come from teasing the alpha wolf.

"Shut the fuck up," I said.

They both turned to face me slowly. Maybe they really hadn't realized I was there. They looked shocked that I was still sitting there. Like where the hell else would I be? Hiding in my room licking my wounds?

"Go take your dicks out and sword fight somewhere else." I smiled wryly at them. "You're giving me a headache."

Kieran's eyes narrowed, like he wanted to berate me for talking like that to him. Then he suddenly got control over himself, and his face became neutral.

Lucian, however, stared at me like I had six heads.

"Dicks," I motioned towards my crotch, "out...elsewhere."

Kyler snorted, then covered his mouth with his hand and turned away.

I stood, feeling the effects of the blood begin curling in my stomach. "I'm going to go take a nap. Keep it down and don't come near me."

"Because of the blood?" Kieran's voice was soft. It was so much different from before when he was growling like a rabid dog towards Lucian.

I flicked the entire group off as I left. "Don't come near me or I'll castrate you."

And finally - finally - they all laughed.
