Lan Qiren watched from afar in some kind of an awe that his ice cold nephew could actually smile like that, and toward the unknown peasant girl that Yuwen Mo invited, of all people. He then approached his sister-in-law, Yuwen Xing, who was in conversation with his brother, Qingheng Jun. He needed to know about the girl, before he decided what to do with her. He didn't care about feelings, he just needed one of his nephews hooked up with Stella and marry her, for the sake of his own family. His wife, especially. Anyone who could marry one of the Lan's brothers would be able to hold the power of the Lans or the Yuwens. He himself preferred Lan Xichen since he was the weaker one between the two, and he would be the easier target. Also if he could get Stella to marry him, the Lan's fortune would be theirs. Unfortunately Xichen had already brought that Jiang girl, and the Jiangs were one of the most influential families too, so he did not dare bother him. 

Lan Wangji on the other hand, was a tough nut to crack. He never showed any interest in any girl, until lately when he heard from the grapevine that he had a girlfriend, one of Jin Guangshan's illegitimate daughters, and she just passed away last month due to some kind of a kidnapping gone wrong. Now he seemed to be quite handsy with that unknown girl. Maybe he was not as immune to girls as people thought he was. Maybe Stella still had a chance, after all she studied abroad and she soon would debut as a pop idol here. And she was easy on the eyes, with her light brown hair, brown eyes, cute face and voluptuous body. Not as tall as that girl, but she had more curves that boys and men would like.

Yuwen Xing was looking at him in question when he approached her.

"Yes, Qiren? Can I help you?" 

Lan Qiren despised his sister-in-law. She was a rebel, a deviation from the norm, not a wife material, an enigma. The only good thing about her was her pedigree. That went the same for Yuwen Mo. It seemed that the Yuwen's family were maybe some kind of pirates or tomb raiders in their previous lives, but since they were richer than god, he pretended not to see their… unruly behaviour. If Stella could snatch Lan Wangji, she could educate the next generations of the Yuwens.

"Your father had brought an unknown girl and introduced her to Wangji, I wonder if…" his words were cut by the speed of Yuwen Xing turning her head to her father's direction. Then she smiled widely and touched Qingheng Jun's arm. "Xianxian is here, do you want to meet her?"

Qingheng Jun smiled hearing that name. The girl was such a delight that he kept the precious memories of her close in his heart and in his phone. That day in Disneyland was the best day in his life, other than his sons' birth and other achievements of course… 

"Sure, should we come over there? She seemed quite close to your father."

"You know how dad is, he is the same as me, so he should fall in love with Xianxian right about… now." Yuwen Xing chuckled. "I will get her. You stay here." She walked in the direction of her father with a purpose to snatch and grab that girl, and forgot all about her brother-in-law.

"You know her, brother? Whose daughter is she?" Lan Qiren was confused now. It seemed that his brother also knew the girl, quite intimately if he might say. He rarely saw his brother interested in other people other than the ones he was close with.

"I have no idea." Qingheng Jun smiled. "But I like her very much, and so does Wangji." He then looked at his brother with his piercing gaze. "You better not do anything to that girl, she is a very important person to Wangji and he is very protective toward her." Of course Qingheng Jun knew about his brother's plan toward his sons, but he just watched from a distance since he wanted his sons to be someone who could solve their own problems rather than letting anyone help them. He was quite disappointed already with his oldest, since the case of the theft and his assistant happened. But well, they should try to solve it themselves, and he was satisfied with the way Wangji handled everything.

"What do you mean, brother? Everything I did was only for the sake of our family, you know that." Lan Qiren was nervous by his brother's cold gaze. In a way, Lan Wangji was just as intimidating as him. Maybe even more.

Although he was the uncle, the older generation, all the fame and fortune that the Lans had now were all thanks to the ruthless Yuwen Xing, and the way she handled business with an iron grip. She was gracious enough to let her husband's brother handle both the private and psychiatric hospital, but she did not let him touch anything else. She put her most trusted people in the other area, rather than utilized the family, and by family he meant his wife's family. True, that the idiot Su Ruoyun, his wife's cousin, whom he trusted to manage the psychiatric hospital, was caught in a disgusting pedophilia case, and it caused Yuwen Xing to give the authority to Lan Wangji to oversee the personnel's replacement instead of letting him do that. His wife was fuming of course, that's why she insisted on Stella to come today, and she also warned him to introduce her to Lan Wangji, or else.

He saw Yuwen Xing come over with her hand around the girl, and the smile on her face, which he rarely saw Yuwen Xing gave to anyone outside of her immediate family and his heart sank. This would be a tough job for Stella. He quickly browsed the crowd to look for Stella, who seemed to have her eyes on Lan Wangji already, but he signaled her to come over instead. He would make them all see that pedigree still meant something in their world. What could a peasant girl do better than a girl raised in an exclusive environment, specially trained to be the wife of the most powerful people in the world? Especially Stella, who excelled at every subject in her private school, and the apple of his wife's eyes since they did not have a child of their own. 

"Xianxian… wow, you grow up really fast." Qingheng Jun hugged Wei Wuxian in a warm embrace, which he almost never did to a stranger, which now made Lan Qiren think that this girl was not that easy to handle.

"Right? I told you that she was the perfect daughter." Yuwen Xing chuckled when she saw Wei Wuxian blushed. 

Lan Qiren's heart sank when he heard that both of his brother and sister-in-law called the girl daughter. Did that mean that they already accepted her? But he could not continue with his thoughts as Stella was approaching with a huge smile on her face. She wore a short translucent black dress with sky high heels, complete with her 'idol' makeup and perfectly coiffed hair. Even Lan Qiren begrudgingly admitted that she looked cheap when she was standing near the girl that Yuwen Xing brought over, peasant or not.

"Brother, sister-in-law, this is Stella Lin, my wife's niece, who will debut as an idol soon. She was the top of her class, and the prettiest one too." He did not even bother to look at the peasant girl, nor acknowledge her. But instead of getting offended, she looked at them curiously, and he had to admit that the girl's eyes were extraordinarily beautiful, like the galaxy was swirling inside them.

"Oh? I did not know you had a niece. Well, good. This is Wei Ying, my goddaughter. You both seem to be around the same age, why don't you girls talk?" Yuwen Xing could read the situation quickly and accurately, and she whispered to Wei Wuxian in a low voice. "Play nice, darling." 

Wei Wuxian only smiled. He knew exactly where this was going. The Stella girl, the soon-to-become-an-idol girl, was going to be introduced to Lan Wangji as his prospective bride. And judging from her hostile gaze, she was in the mood for a competition. Wei Wuxian only chuckled. He had his share of this kind of girl, so he expected no less.

So, bring it on, girl.
