"Guys, you better stand back." Xie Lian spoke to Lan Wangji and Hua Cheng. "And better call He Xuan back too, or he will get a taste of Xianxian's wrath." Then he made a barrier array to protect them from whatever it was that Wei Wuxian was about to do. He Xuan was back too, although he was reluctant to leave the woman fought alone, but he trusted Lan Wangji as he turned off the battle mode. After all that he saw, nothing seemed impossible anymore.
"What's going to happen now?"
"Watch."
Wei Wuxian stood in the middle, surrounded by the four zombie look-alikes, when he grinned and his eyes turned red. Then he snapped his fingers and his body was engulfed in black fire, and from his right hand the fire turned into something vague which grew bigger and taller, and finally its shape became clearer.
"Whoa…" Hua Cheng and He Xuan were amazed with that display of strange power, while Lan Wangji, although he saw firsthand what his lover could do, was still stunned by the display of another new ability. That person could never fail to amaze him.
"Did you know that a Grim Reaper always brought his scythe to reap the souls?" Xie Lian looked so proud when he saw the huge scythe formed from the black fire. It was taller than Wei Wuxian, and it was… overwhelmingly beautiful in a frightening way that made you feel the end was coming and yet you could not look away from the face of death. In fact, the whole body was giving off that vibe to anyone who saw him.
"So… she's actually a real Grim Reaper?" Hua Cheng asked him, while He Xuan was still in awe with the display of the strange supernatural power, which exceeded his wildest fantasy. He was a man of science after all, the same with Lan Wangji, so it was a bit hard for him to digest all these otherworldly things.
"No, we are far more than just Grim Reapers, Great Sage, or whatever it is that you human named us. But I think it's a lesson for another day, don't you think?" Xie Lian smiled secretively. "Now, please just watch this rare show that even I haven't had the privilege to see since… a long time ago."
They all observed Wei Wuxian, who now swung his huge scythe easily, and he cut all four of them at once with a very graceful, swan-like movement. The cuts were followed by the burn of the black fire, which seemed to destroy the red nanites, rendering them useless and unable to regenerate or explode.
Then, the next second, all four of them were scattered into dust.
Right about the time that they heard the police siren from afar.
Wei Wuxian resorted back to original form as he walked slowly toward Lan Wangji and fell into his arms.
The police and Detective Jiang came a few minutes later, informing them that Jin Zixun, Su Minshan and Wen Xu had escaped from the cell, and they were worried that those scumbags would take revenge on Lan Wangji.
"Don't worry Detective Jiang, our security will inform you if there's any sign of them in our vicinity. We will tighten our security too." Lan Wangji tried to ensure Detective Jiang, who nodded since he knew the extent of the Lan's security force.
After the police left, everyone excused themselves, including Qingheng Jun and Yuwen Xing. They knew something bad had happened tonight, but from the look of the children, everything was solved perfectly. Yuwen Xing hugged Wei Wuxian and kissed her. She heard from her father that Wei Wuxian was actually Xie Lian's cousin and she could not be happier as the understanding dawned. She finally knew why Xie Lian was very overprotective to her and why he still stuck around after everything. That, and also because of the look he and her godson sent to each other. She could literally hear wedding bells chimed in her head. Three weddings. One more if the look that He Xuan and the little Princess exchanged for the whole night was more than just a casual attraction.
