Chapter Forty four

ABALA SA pagbasa ng nobela ang dalagang si Killani nung may kumatok sa pintuan ng kwarto niya, she instantly knew that it was her mother. Ang step-dad niya kasi ay mas pipiliin pang tawagan siya sa cellphone kesa sa kumatok sa pinto niya, and her step-brother? Nevermind, parang wala namang pakialam 'yun sakaniya.

"Anak?" Her mother peeked inside her room.

"Yes, ma? May ipapagawa ka ba?" Tuluyan nang pumasok ang ina niya sa loob saka marahang tumawa.

"Silly, hindi ba pwede na gusto ka lang makausap ni mama?"

Killani heaved a deep sigh before closing the book and faced her mom. "About what po ba?"

Her mother also smiled softly then held her hand. "Anak..."

"Ano po 'yun?"

"Alam mo naman na hindi mali ang umibig diba?"

Parang biglang nanigas si Killani sa narinig, where is this going?

"What?" Her voice came out as a whisper.

"Alam mo naman na hindi mo maloloko si mama, I noticed how you look at Didrik."

Wala nang nagawa si Killani kundi ang umiwas ng tingin, it's been 7 years since her step-dad and step-brother entered their lives. Before it was just a mere confusion, but now that she's already an adult she has sorted out already her feelings. 

And what can she say? Can Killani stop the feeling of hidden love that she has been keeping for 7 years? 

"Ma, I'm sorry." The corner of Killani's eyes started to heat up.

Her mother sighed. "Anak, there's nothing to be sorry of. Love is the purest form of emotion that you can impart with someone, mama is not disappointed. I'm just a bit worried, because the purest people are those who also give the purest love."

"What do you mean, Ma?"

"What I'm trying to say is that... Before you risk it, make sure to love yourself, because if you won't? Your once pure love will be tainted, and I don't want that to happen to you. I can see it in your eyes, the way you look at Didrik from afar, just by seeing you like that already scares me as your mother."

Nalilito si Killani, what does her mother meant by that? Is she doing something without her noticing that it's wrong?

"Why does it scare you, po?"

Bahagyang ngumiti ang ginang bago kinurot ang pisngi ni Killani. "It scares me because I can see it. Love will be your biggest enemy."

Pinanood niya lang ang ina na tumayo saka tumungo sa pintuan. "Pack your bags, anak. We'll be leaving in 3 days, may business meeting tayo."

At the age of 24, Killani was still needing her mom's guidance. Who would've thought, that 3 days later, she'll be losing her mom who is also her bestfriend at the same time. 

KILLANI WOKE UP in a dark room, she hates it when she leaves her curtain open before sleeping, the sun rays usually lit up her room and she doesn't like it. Mas gusto niyang gumising na hindi naiinis nang dahil sa araw.

Her eyes immediately widened when the happenings of last night hit her head like a truck, kaagad na napunta ang tingin niya sa katabi, but he wasn't there. Oh gosh, don't tell me it was just all a dream again?

Killani checked her body under the blanket and she's naked, hindi niya alam kung dapat ba siya magiging masaya o ano e. She held the blanket tight to her chest to avoid unwanted breast exposure.
