TUNOG ng tumitibok na puso mula sa monitor ang maririnig sa buong silid, ang amoy ng ospital ang kaagad na bumati sa dalagang nakaratay sa kama.
Killani slowly opened her eyes, images of crashing waves immediately invaded her mind. She was about to talk but her throat felt too scratchy. It's like she hasn't talked in a while.
"Wait! I'll call the doctor." Nag mamadaling sabi ni Gleisey na hindi niya manlang napansin na nandoon pala, the girl quickly ran to the door to call a doctor.
Killani coughed to lessen the scratchiness of her throat, isa lamang ang iniisip nito. Nasan si Didrik? Is he okay? She needs to see him this instant. Her hand went down to her stomach.
Ang baby ko...
Nagaalala si Gleisey sa kaibigan nito, nakita niyang gumalaw ang kamay ng dalaga subalit nung gumising na ay nakatulala lang ito sa kisame. She doesn't know what to do.
Killani slightly tilted her head to check the person who entered her room, it was Gleisey together with a doctor who's carrying some sort of papers.
"Hello, can you hear me? My name is Doctor Sean. What's your name? How are you feeling? Do you know what happened?" Tanong ng doctor nung makalapit sa pwesto niya, but he was a little bit distant.
Seeing Gleisey on the side actually calmed her down a bit.
Of course, she can completely recall what happened. They've been into an accident, they sinked together with the boat. The main question is... Nasaan si Didrik?
She cleared her throat before answering. "I-I'm Killani Vison-Gustavsson." Her voice came out raspy.
Killani saw her friend's forehead frown in confusion while looking at her suspiciously.
The doctor raised his eyebrows. "How are you feeling?"
"My throat hurts..." Bulong ni Killani.
"That's normal, especially being in coma for three months—"
"Three months?" Gulat na saad niya, the doctor nodded.
"Yes, you were in coma for three months. Killani Vison, it's a miracle that you lived after the accident. You only had minor injuries compared to others, except for the brain trauma that caused you to be unconscious and unresponsive. So, can you recall anything? Kahit maliit lang?"
Kumunot ang noo ni Killani, she's in comma for three months? She should be on her 5th month of pregnancy, but why is her stomach flat?
Nanlamig ito bigla, wag mong sabihin na—nakunan siya?
"Doc... Nasaan ang anak ko? Don't tell me that I miscarried... Please don't tell me." Naiiyak na tanong niya.
"You were pregnant?!" Gulat na sigaw ng kaibigan niya.
"Calm down, maam. If ever that you are pregnant, we should've known and took care of you. But there was none."
Parang gumuho ang mundo ni Killani sa narinig, hindi maaari! She can remember every single detail!
She's married to Didrik, and she was almost 3 months pregnant when the accident happened!
"You're lying to me! I am pregnant—" Tumingin siya kay Gleisey. "Alam mo 'yan Gleisey! You were there! Palagi mo pa akong dinadalhan ng hilaw na mangga mula sa Guimaras!" Her friend just looked at her pitifully but remained silent.
"Doc... Pwede mo ba kaming iwan muna? Mamaya niyo nalang siya i-check, please?"
The doctor looked hesitant but still nodded. "Just press the button if there's something wrong, I'll be back Ms. Gleisey and Killani." He said before leaving the room.
