Song Choice: Keane - Somewhere Only We Know

"How were you tracing me? I didn't take or touch anything during that short ride!" (Y/n) wondered, not remembering anything of importance.

The Handler held a gloved hand up to her lips to prevent a laugh before pointing to the girl's legs. Both Five and (Y/n)'s eyebrows knit together as she looked down and around her legs, Five doing the same until he grabbed her by the shoulder to stop her spinning around and pointed at the back of her left knee.

She bent her leg to lift her foot upwards behind her and looked behind her back to see that just a little bit above the back of her knee there was a tiny thin rectangular grey slip with a red dot in the center.

She peeled it off just like a sticker and looked closer to it. The slip was almost less than half the size of her finger vertically and the red dot was lighting up. (Y/n) realized that the sticky part of it was the same color as the limo cushions so she must've sat on it, right on the sticky part.

'What the fuck!? How the hell did she- She was going to track me even if I took her side! Who does that!?'

Five glared at the tracking device before glaring at the Handler. "What was the point of going through all that just to call me here?"

"I wanna offer you a choice. Everyone's going to die tonight, but... unlike the rest of the world, you have a way out. You can abandon your family and skip ahead to the apocalypse, take a walkabout for a few decades, wondering if I'll come back and offer you a job again, or you can stay here, with your family, and... die a horrible death." She laughed, popping champagne.

Five narrowed his eyes on the woman.

The Handler then perked up. "Hey and to make your decision easier, we'll throw in your favorite thing. While you are wandering in the remains of the world, the Commission will keep (Y/n) safely locked away. I think that'd be a big enough motive to get you through those years, the need to see her again and rescue the princess like you're her knight in shining armor."

(Y/n)'s eyebrows snapped together, a little shocked she would throw her in the offering. Five stepped in front of her, not wanting her to be involved. "Like you could ever get your hands on her."

"I know we can't, unless she gives herself over." The Handler said, nodding to (Y/n).

"And why would I ever do that?" (Y/n) snapped, getting light dejavu.

The Handler pretended to think. "Well, as they're leaderless and most likely pathetically helpless while drastically mourning, I'm sure a war against the Despair Facility and the Commission would be an easy win for us."

(Y/n) swore her heart almost stopped. Why did she have to bring them into this? She was threatening a goddamn company war if (Y/n) didn't sacrifice herself to imprisonment if Five chose option B. She didn't want to choose between her family and Five, the only person who saw the good in her. She was at a loss for words.

She turned to Five with a horrified expression. "Five... I..." Five stopped her by rubbing a hand on her arm, "Don't worry, I'm not leaving my family so you don't have to worry about yours."

"While you play Eros and Psyche," the Handler interrupted, causing them to move apart, "just know your siblings are fighting for their lives without you."

Five dreadfully realized, "You brought me here to pull me away."

"It's been nice knowing you, Five." She said, pouring herself a drink. "(Y/n), not so much."
