Last Summer // George Weasley

4. So It Begins

The next morning you were woken up by too many loud sounds to count. Mrs. Weasley was yelling at one of the twins and Harry and Ron were lugging their trunks down from the top floor. You Ginny and Hermione had packed last night so you just got dressed and then brought your things downstairs. Mr.Weasley was putting everyones trunk in the car which had an undetectable extension charm so everyone and all of our things could fit.

"You've all got everything" Mrs.Weasley said checking each child that stood outside of the car, everyone nodded back and climbed in. The ride to Kings Cross Station took awhile and you napped most of the way there using Fred as a pillow.

"EW GROSS, she drooled on me" Fred Cried as we pulled up to the train station
You smiled at him and said "love youuuuu" before climbing out of the car to retrieve your trunk. The train station was crowded and it took a little bit to get to platform 9 3/4. Mrs.Weasley gave each child a bone crushing hug and a kiss before they climbed onto the train

"I love you all" she shouted "Miss you already" she waved as the train pulled out of the station and on to Hogwarts. You and the twins found an empty compartment and went inside. The boys immediately started talking about the joke shop and new ideas for it.

"HELLOOOOOO WEASLEYS" Lee shouted as he threw the door open
"Hey what about me" you pouted
"Love you're basically a Weasley too" Lee smiled at you and wrapped you in a big hug "did you lot have a good summer"
"Yeah it was fine, the usual" Fred told him
"I assumed you were there the whole time" Lee asked
"Always" you said "I don't want to be around my dad and merlin knows he doesn't want me home" no one really knew what to say to that, it was always an awkward topic-your father. It didn't bother you much anymore but you still didn't like to talk about him. George decided to move on and tell Lee about their brilliant ideas for the joke shop.

About an hour later Angelina and Katie came into the compartment.
"Hey girls" Fred smile and pulled Angelina in for a hug. Angelina was a really sweet girl and you two got along pretty well, but she and Fred were pretty off and on.
Katie stayed standing in the doorway not really sure where to sit. George smiled up at her and she sat down next to him, you couldn't help but roll your eyes. Luckily Lee was the only one who say and gave you a confused look, to which you just shook your head.
"So how was your summer you guys" You finally asked. Angelina told you about her trip to America with her parents and Katie told us how she stayed home and played quidditch with her younger brother a lot. "You remember right Samantha" Katie asked "We're all on the quidditch team... except for you"
"uhm yeah? I remember" you said not sure what else to say to her. Katie smiled up at George and started telling him some other stupid story about her summer.
"alright well if you'll all excuse me" you said leaving the compartment. Once you made it down the corridor you stopped and leaned against a wall closing your eyes.

"Samantha you alright" Adrian Pucey came down the corridor and stopped across from you

"Oh hey Adrian" You smiled "Yeah I'm fine just a bit tired is all" the two of you caught up for a bit, most Gryffindors hated Adrian but you guys got to know each other your first year and got along pretty well. "Alright well I need to go change into my robes, but I'll see you later" you threw one last smile over your shoulder and headed to the bathroom to change.
"where did you get off to" Fred asked when you walked back into the compartment
"just walked around a bit, I ran into Adrian" when you said his name Georges head shot up
"I dont like that you hang out with him" he said
"Oh thats so weird I forgot you have a say in who I see and who I don't see" you said looking between him and Katie. You grabbed your things and left the compartment and found Ginny, Hermione, Ron and Harry. "do you guys mind if i sit here for a bit"
"of course not join us" Harry smiled. You sat down next to Ron and closed your eyes, you didnt really feel much like talking.

"Samantha" Hermione gently shook your shoulder "Were here" she said and you slowly opened your eyes. Everyone else was gathering their things and getting off of the train, you could even see Hagrid waiting for the first years. you smiled up at Hermione and started getting all of your things
"Thanks Mione, didn't realize how tired I was" you laughed and the two fo you got off of the train together.
"Oi Samantha" Fred shouted from down the platform but you just kept walking. Hermione looked at you a confused look on her face
"Samantha" she said quietly
"I heard him" I told her and kept looking straight ahead.
"Samantha" this time it was Fred and George shouting behind you but you climbed into the carriage with everyone else and didn't bother to look back. You weren't mad at them, especially not Fred but I was embarrassed about my outburst and annoyed with George and Katie. You sat quietly in the carriage and listened to everyone talk while you slowly made your way up to the castle. When you could finally see the castle you couldn't help but smile, this pace was more your home than your fathers house has ever been. You got out of the carriage and walked into the castle with everyone else and into the great hall. You took your place at the Gryffindor table and looked around, you caught Adrians eye and waved to him making him smile and wave back at you.
"Samantha" Fred said squeezing into a spot next to you "we were calling you"
"I heard" I said looking down at the empty plate in front of me
"And you ignored us why" George asked
"I just wanted to ride with Ginny and Hermione" You lied
"Well you could have told us after you stormed out of the compartment" Fred said "Why did you leave"
"It was just..... a bit crowded" you said looking away and glancing towards Katie.

Later that night after unpacking all of your things in your room Lee came in and sat down on your bed
"So are we going to talk about this whole George situation" He asked
"I'm not really sure what you're talking about" you said re folding a shirt that you had already put away
"Come on Samantha it's me Leelee and I know you better than anyone even those two red headed idiots. I saw you on the train you looked like you wanted to hex Katie"
"I don't want to hex Katie she's just annoying, and so obviously transparent and she barely even knows George"
"yeah this totally sounds like nothing" Lee joked "What happened this summer. I mean I never thought you felt like this about George before"
"I don't know Lee Im not sure if i ever did but all of a sudden it was so clear.... and now he likes her"
"I mean he does but it doesn't mean he doesn't like you and wouldn't chose you"
"I cant" you said flopping onto your bed and covering your face "I cant tell him"

And as if on cue someone knocked on your door "GO AWAY" you shouted and threw a pillow at the door making Lee laugh. George cautiously stuck his head in the door making Lee laugh even harder
"Hey can we talk Samantha" George asked
"Of course you can" Lee smiled and ran out of the room
"Grab a coat lets go for a walk"
"Sure" you said and grabbed your jacket before following George out of the common room into the hall.
"So whats been going on" George asked
"Im not really sure, I've just felt a bit off" you answered "maybe its just because its the beginning of the school year.....I also haven't heard from my dad yet"
"I'm sorry" George looked down at you "I wish I could do something to help"
Little did George know he could fix everything, but you just couldn't bring yourself to tell him, at least not now.
"Hey come on" George bumped you in the shoulder and grabbed your hand and ran outside with you.
"How is it already this cold out" you asked pulling your jacket closer to your body
"Well you're doing it all wrong" George pulled his coat off and then started to take yours off
"George stop that wont help at all" you tried getting your jacket out of his hands but he held it up above your head. He handed you his jacket and then started putting your jacket on
"That wont fit, stop! your'e going to stretch it out" your small jacket wouldn't even fit over his shoulders you being 5'4" and George 6'3". You pulled Georges massive jacket on and it made it all the way down to your knees
"Look at you" George laughed
"look at me?! Look at you" you said holding back your laughs
"Hey I think I look great" George said modeling your jacket and spinning around causing you to double over in a fit of laughter. Once you caught your breath you snuggled into Georges jacket and smelled cinnamon, firewood, a hint of weed and his shampoo.
"I think you were right George..... I am much warmer now" you laughed
"Good I'm glad" George put his arm around your shoulder pulling you closer as you headed back inside.
