67. Family Tree

"And my grandmother" you asked Sirius as you flicked through the old photos
"Walburga" Sirius said "dreadful woman"
"Oh I'm Sorry"

"No it's fine, I don't mind talking about it"
Harry shifted in the chair next to you reaching for another photo

"She kicked me out when I was 16"
"Why" you asked your chest hurting for Sirius

"Because I didn't want to follow in the family footsteps, I didn't want to be a death eater"
"Where did you go, Hogwarts?"

"Well yes, I was still in school but it was during the holidays. I went to the potters" Sirius smiled at Harry

"Euphemia and Fleamont always treated me like family" he told the two of you
"your grandparents" Sirius added for Harry

"I wish I could have met them" Harry said quietly
"Me too" Sirius said

The sound of someone apperating into the house filled your ears and Sirius got to his feet
"Padfoot" you heard Remus call

Harry handed you a photo and you looked over your shoulder noticing Sirius glancing at his reflection in the mirror before greeting Remus

"Moony" he smiled and hugged him
"How are you" Remus asked

"I'm alright" Sirius nodded like he was trying to convince Remus of his words.

Remus put his arm around Sirius's shoulder and they went into the front room to speak.

"I'm sorry about your mum" Harry said pulling your attention back to the table. You smiled and shrugged

"It's alright, she was never really apart of my life"
"still it's like a part of your identity you know?"

Harry's words played around in your head and you felt your throat tighten.

Was Harry right? Even though you didn't know her well she was your mum, she was part of you.

"Yeah" you mumbled
"uh I have to get back but I'll see you around?"
"Yeah" Harry smiled
"see you"

You walked down the hall and into the front room where Remus and Sirius were huddled together speaking quietly

"Sorry to uh interrupt" you said getting their attention

"I'm going"
"Oh darling I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah sure" you smiled and left grimmauld place. You weren't sure where to go you just knew you weren't ready to go back to the shop yet.

"What do I do" you could feel tears prick your eyes and you blocked them back.

You apperated and found yourself in the garden at the burrow, you walked inside and Molly was in the kitchen kneading dough on the counter

"Oh Samantha darling" she said wiping her hands on her apron

"I wasn't expecting you"
"I'm sorry" you smiled sheepishly

"No don't be silly, you're always welcome" she said pulling a chair out for you at the table and you sat down

"Thanks" you said
"Are you alright dear" Molly asked as she got back to her bread.

You traced the woods grain on the table with your finger and shrugged not wanting to look up at her. Molly sighed and sat down next to you

"So much has happened love it's alright to be sad"

"I feel so....." you threw your hands up in frustration

"I'm furious at my dad-David and I'm scared that he's going to show up again"

"No one is going to let him hurt you" Molly said sounding defensive

"And my mum..... I barely knew her. Don't get me wrong I'm sad but, I feel like everyone expects me to feel worse than I do"

"No that's completely understandable" Molly said brushing your hair off of your shoulder

"I'm so happy that Sirius is my dad but mum wasn't around enough for me to have a real relationship with"
Molly smiled warmly

"however you handle this is the right way, don't let anyone make you feel bad"
"Thanks molly" you sighed finally smiling up at her

"And anyway you can't be sad, you have a wedding to plan" she chuckled as she got back to her baking

"I can't wait for the wedding, just something good"

"Well there isn't much left to do" Molly told you
"Thank Merlin" you joked

Later that evening the fireplace lit with green flames and George came out in a hurry

"Mum I can't find Samantha have you-"
He stopped when he saw you still sitting in your chair a cup of tea Molly had made in front of you

"She's been here all afternoon" Molly said a big smile on her face.

George leaned down and wrapped his arms around you, kissing your head

"Are you alright" he asked quietly
"Mhmm" you nodded
"just needed to hide here for a while"

"It's fine, you don't have to explain yourself to me"

"Sit sit George I'll make you a cup of tea" Molly said pulling out another chair which George sat down in

"Evening molly" Arthur said coming in the front door and smiled wildly when he saw you and George

"Were we expecting you" he asked
"No, surprise visit" George said

"Wonderful" Arthur exclaimed putting his cloak on a hook.

You smiled and rested your head on George's shoulder as you listened to him and Arthur talking about work while Molly prepared dinner.

This was a family you thought to yourself, and now they were your family.

Once you were stuffed with a hot dinner and sleepy beyond measure George lead you to the fireplace to head home

"Thank you for everything Molly" you said hugging her before leaving

"You're always welcome, for dinner or just a chat" she smiled and you and George left for home.

When you got back to the shop Fred and Emily were sitting at the dinner table laughing
"Hey guys" you greeted

"Hey Samantha" Fred said getting up from the table
"are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just needed a day away"

"A day away means a day with mum" George informed his brother

"Well as long as you're alright, got a wedding coming up can't have a runaway bride" he joked.

You excused herself and went off to shower before bed. When you got to your room George was waiting for her in bed

"How are you feeling darling" he asked
"A bit better" you said climbing under the blankets and snuggling into George's side.

He wrapped his arms around you and kissed your head

"I love you always" he said softly
"I love you too George"
"Now my darling you need your sleep"
