Denis
"We waited too long for him, let's just start." Corl whined impatiently."Yeah, it's just a game so he can join the next round." Elijah said.
After yet another rough day we had decided to release some stress by playing games with our powers. It was Corl's idea and I suspected it was only for him to test these new "powers" he had. He had finally come to terms with the fact that the chip on the back of his neck which Moon originally placed for mind control couldn't be moved (at least without hurting him) and he got Sub to replace Moon's virus with some international data shit. Either way, this meant that he was pretty much a cyborg which is absolutely insane!
Ethan took out a scroll and started reading aloud. "Alright Super Freeze Tag recap: Players begin in the tree headquarters while Ice Master begins out by the house with the icicle trophy. If you are frozen by Corl you must not use any power that frees you. Extreme powers such as teleportation, hypermotility and flight have a limit of 3 uses per round. Any powers outside of this range shall be used as many times as the player wants, and power combinations are also valid. Once everyone has arrived safely in the headquarters with the trophy, the game ends and players win. Once all players are frozen, the game ends and Co- I mean the Ice Master wins. Got it?"
I teleported Ethan and Elijah to base and we started setting out our plan. Sure it was a game, but Corl always took it way too seriously, and two can play that game.
"I say I infiltrate the base considering my power melts-"
"Oh my God Alex!"
Corl's shout was loud enough to cut off Elijah. The name we heard at the end had to have given us some sort of power boost because in a split second we were down in the field, watching Corl cling onto Alex like they had been separated for ages. Though it was only a week, it sure felt that way. The three of us quickly joined in and I could already feel tears of relief forming in my eyes. It was over.
"Awe," Sub said in a knowingly tone.
"Yeah cute if I can have some space to breathe." Alex said.
"Oh. Yeah, sorry." I said before letting go.
Once the awkward moment had passed we had agreed to continue the game with Alex and Sub on our team. All while we were planning we couldn't help filling in Alex on some events which went down after he let his demon go: the cool "monster" he had turned into, the shards and the ritual. We had left out the part about Nyeka smashing her crystal to kill them both because it struck us kinda dark to throw that out there.
"I never asked you this before what does it feel like being dead?" Sub asked suddenly.
"I actually don't know really. I guess you just don't feel anything..which makes sense but I never woke up in hell or heaven or wherever you go when you die..kinda makes me question if I really did die." Alex said dazedly.
"What about those?" Elijah asked, pointing to the bandages on his left arm.
"From my demon. I'm kinda like a fusion now so these cuts don't heal. I am learning to own it pretty easily though."
"Y'know that reminds me of someone who also wants to show of something they 'owned'." I hinted.
"Fine, Elijah enters Corl's base with Alex and Denis, I play main offence because I can beat his ass along with Ethan's morphing powers. We make an unstoppable duo." Sub said.
"I wanted to do that.." I muttered saltily.
Completely disregarding everything I said, Sub shouted "let's go" and started cheering as everyone else left, but Alex stayed behind like he wanted to tell me something, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. I wasn't one to rush him; he just woke up from death and he probably still has a lot to sort out. Besides, I trusted him enough to tell me when the time was right.
Then he tore off a strip of bandage, wrote on it with some art pencil he had and handed it to me before leaving.
I lied. it read.
