Elijah
I set the final cushion on the ground and stood back proudly, admiring my creation. The summoning circle was an exact replica of the diagram, and it was situated in the single best place in the house we could find on short notice - Moonshine's room. She made sure that not only she was in the basement, where it's darkest, but she also had the most room because she kept all her stuff in Star's room. In addition, we figured she owed us after double crossing us anyway.

"Um, Elijah?" Ethan asked while looking at the ground and comparing to the book.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Why the cushions? That's not part of the ritual thingy."

"Well, I don't want my ass hurting and I don't think you would either." I carefully made my way around the summoning circle, to avoid smudging the chalk. "Now let's get that crystal before Denis, Sub and Corl get back."

The two of us ran upstairs to Blue's lab. The door wasn't open as it usually would, and the quiet murmur of the girl hard at work turned into almost earsplitting noise like one found at a construction sight. Ethan knocked and we waited a while, nervously looking at each other.

"Bluey..?" I called through the door.

The noise came to a sudden halt, and quickened footsteps grew louder to the door. Blue opened the door, showing us her undoubtedly bad side.

"Uh..we just came for the.." I started.

"Oh yeah!" she slammed the door shut (I gave her the benefit of the doubt and called it an accident) and returned quickly. "Here. Good luck with it guys!" she said, straining to be cheerful.

Before we could say anything, the door slammed shut once again. We stayed in silence for a while before heading back upstairs and adding the final touches. Just in time to hear the others come home.

"We had to improvise a lot." Corl said, breathing heavily. "But we got stuff which should help in place of what the originals were."

"Elijah, you sit directly opposite of Corl so this thing can work properly." Sub said, taking up a small device and putting it on the ceiling.

Because this "ritual" was known to use up a high amount of energy and power, we decided to bring in some "power factors" as Star likes to call them. They're basically natural factors in the world that regenerates and strengthens our powers when needed according to our main elements. For example, I'd never be low on energy when there's a heatwave (although goddamn it's painfully hot then). The same would be said of Corl in the opposite temperature.

"Now that it's late at night we should try it." Sub suggested after setting everything up.

Alex's power factor was darkness so it only seemed logical.

"Why these?" Corl asked, holding up a cushion as he sat.

"Elijah believes we should be comfortable before death." Ethan said, laughing a little.

"Hey, don't say it like that!" I protested. "Firstly, we will live and secondly, I just don't want ass pain!"

"What if it messes up the ritual?" Sub said suddenly.

"Just put them behind you and we'll use them if needed." Denis suggested.

Gotta love Denis for being a true friend.

I sat in my position along with the others, trying hard not to show fear. I stretched my arms to hold Ethan's and Denis' hands, closing my eyes afterwards. The fear slowly subsided as we started chanting the spell over and over.

"With the power of our crystals, brought together, regenerate this soul now and forever."

Soon it felt like my body was getting lighter, or as if my soul was leaving my body. I slowly opened my eyes, being blinded by the white glow created in the centre of us. The weirdly silent sound of something broken being healed - it reverberated in my head as we progressively got louder with our chanting.

Suddenly everything came to a sudden stop and I felt like I fell a couple feet before I blacked out.
