Alex

Katrina suddenly pushed me back and turned away from me like she was scared. I wouldn't blame her though, I felt some sort of weird bloodlust inside and hurting her was on my mind - honestly I was scaring myself. It's what being demonic is like and although I've put up with it for a year, I'm still not used to it.

"You're a Light...you have to be.." she said, her voice filled with fear. She was shaking while clenching her gun in her hands tightly.

"You're not wrong." I replied, giggling.

Instead of shooting me, she just stared at me with this horrified expression on her face. She kept whispering "why would she send a Light, does she really want me dead that bad?"

I was better than what I was feeling though, I knew I was harmless no matter what I wanted to do.

Maybe that wasn't entirely true, but I haven't felt this way in ages and I don't want to relapse again. But I couldn't move even if I wanted to; I was too overwhelmed. It felt like I was being hurt from the inside out.

"I won't hurt you, and Sunny didn't send me." I said softly.

Katrina heard me and placed her gun on the floor. I don't know what caused her to let her guard down so easily, but I'm thankful for it. Her fear seemed to have subsided and she was way calmer now.

"So let me get this straight..Sunny didn't send you, but you are a demon..a Light. But you're definitely human as well." she said calmly. "Freaky but kinda cool..and I can relate."

She put her hair into two pigtails, revealing a scar that traveled across her entire neck. "Was killed at 6 but somehow I got a second chance at life."

Though I was still trying to fight through my thoughts and get out of here, I took in what she said. That's probably how she triggered my demon - it knew she was like me. Hurt inside but having to fake it because you'd probably be sent to an asylum for expressing it. No one truly understands the pain and pressure unless they've experienced it.

What sounded like a gunshot broke my train of thought; at first I thought she had betrayed my trust, but I watched the woman fall, holding her bleeding shoulder.

"You good?" Sub asked me. I didn't know how or when he got here, all of this was too much to take in when my mind was already in overload. He was behind me, and just outside of my view I could see her gun again..she was planning to betray me.

"Not really." I replied hesitantly. While I didn't want him to worry about me, I was on the verge of another demonic episode. I could feel it and I wasn't ready.  The pain was starting to hit me and it was way too much to handle.

Sub held my hands and put them over my chest. He placed his hands over mine like he knew what he was doing.

"Close your eyes and just listen to me." he stated. He always sounded harsh but at the same time gentle. That's one of the things I liked about him. He acts tough but he's like a marshmallow on the inside once you get to know him.

I did what he told me to do and listened to him talk in a low, calm voice. He was telepathic so his voice would literally be in my head.

"You are Alex Light Orman. You can control your demonic side, I believe in you. You're stronger than it. Remember who you are, you have the ability to get through this.."

The pain and anxiety was slowly subsiding as I continued to listen to Sub's voice. I remembered that my demon always felt at peace knowing he was around. It was so weird - how one person could completely change the mood of the freak that is a demon.

When I felt confident that I was in control of myself again, I removed his hands and sighed heavily. That was scary.

"You okay now?" Sub asked.

"I think so..thanks." I said, hugging him.

"Corl's upstairs with the other bitches so if he's done we're gonna meet Star, Denis, Elise and the twins back at the police station." he said when I let go.

"Sounds good." The paper cat rubbed against my leg which reminded me of the portal. It was still on, but I knew Sub had the brains to probably reverse the effect of it. That'd have to wait for another time though.

I looked back at Katrina, who had surrendered to the blood loss and was now face down and unconscious in the pool of her blood. I felt bad for her until I could feel her spirits around me - it gave me chills - plus she's probably better off dead and now she can't leave unless she wanted to be burnt alive in the sunlight. She knew too much anyway.

Sub and I joined Braden who seemed to have enjoyed himself beating up some cult members. I had to remember I'm with the two most violent people in our team after Moonshine.

Our game plan from here was to go help the others, but as none of us have heard from them, it was easier said than done.
