_____________

He was staring at me again.

This was the fifth time I've caught his gaze tonight. It's intimidating, to feel like you're being watched.

Especially by someone like Rafe Cameron.

The way he carries himself around here is something he's known for. He thinks he owns this fucking town, which I'm sure makes him feel like he can act however he wants to. He was cocky, arrogant, and extremely entitled.

I don't know where he gets this negative behavior from, his father is the nicest man you'll meet on the island. But he definitely has an ego too. The two of them put together are like opposite ends of magnets - they butt heads.

Rafe is the biggest player I have ever met. I'd even go as far as saying he's the biggest douchebag I'd ever met as well. He just doesn't think of anyone other then himself.

I bravely meet his piercing blue eyes from across the table. The way he looks at people, is like he's trying to communicate through his eyes. It's always a warning look - they call him Kook King for a reason around here. I find the courage deep down to give him a once-over.

"Is there a problem?" were the first words I spoke to Rafe that Summer. We had just gotten home from our trip to the Bahamas, which was my graduation present.

He chuckles, "No problem here, green eyes." I push my lips out as I hear what he calls me. "Unless you have one." My mood immediately sours as I recognize that smirk that's always plastered on his face. Rafe is very good looking, but he knew it.

And that's the type you have to stay away from. They're the ones that are dangerous.

"Then why are you staring at me?" I ask, the attitude in my voice was evident. I see his smirk grow in size as he leans onto the table. It must've been the dirty look I was giving him.

"Can I not admire beautiful things?" God, he's so full of shit. Any word that came out of his mouth meant nothing to me. Half of it was lies anyway.

"Fuck off Rafe," I snap while rolling my eyes. Topper and him both share a chuckle. "I don't wanna deal with your shit this Summer."

"Too bad sweetheart, it looks like you're stuck with me," He says, his eyes shimmering with amusement. I feel my hands ball into fists under the table as he snickers at how pissed I was. I hate how he knows how to push my buttons.

"Quit torturing, her would you?" Sarah's voice butted in. Finally. "The girl just got home."

"Seriously," I snap. Rafe says nothing else, and just leans back in his seat. "Wipe that smirk off your face it's fucking annoying."

He doesn't listen to Sarah though - actually to be clear he doesn't listen to anyone. So he purposefully says things to continue to push my buttons all throughout dinner.

"Guys wait up!" A voice screams from behind us. I turn around to see Kelce running off the porch of the country club a while later.

He's out of breath when he reaches our friends. Sarah and I were just about to get into my car to go back to my house. I was dragged here by her, while she promised to come back to my house after to unpack.
