Seraphina could feel a terrible headache coming on. She rubbed her temples with a frown, but her stress wasn't going away that easily. The exams were approaching, and she was panicking. She was doomed for Potions. And Divinations.
Her father wasn't the type to nag her about poor grades. He didn't really understand the grading system at Hogwarts anyway.
She just didn't want to fail any classes.
Seraphina sighed and lowered her face into her arms. It looked like what she feared might just happen.
"Hey." A hand came on her shoulder, and she looked up.
Draco? When did he get here?
"Come on," he whispered as he nodded towards the exit. "Let's go."
"Go where? I need to study," Seraphina motioned towards her open books.
"You need some fresh air. Come on." Draco pulled her out of her seat. He placed his hands on her shoulders from behind and steered her towards the exit.
They left the library, and he took her hand. "Follow me."
"Where are we going?" Seraphina glanced back at the library in confusion. When he said she should get some fresh air, she thought they'd just linger in front of the library for a few minutes.
"Just trust me," Draco said as he led her towards the stairs.
They traveled a bit further and started going up a black spiral staircase. Seraphina asked, "We're at the astronomy tower?" They came to the top, and Draco guided her to the edge. The night scenergy of Hogwarts was breathtaking, and her lungs filled up with fresh oxygen from the cool breeze.
"I come here sometimes. When I need to think or when I want to be alone," Draco admitted.
"You brought me to your secret lair?" Seraphina looked at him with a smile. Draco shrugged, and he seemed a bit shy, as if he was embarrassed for exposing another deep secret about himself.
"I can see why you like it up here," Seraphina said as she rested her arms on the railing. Draco did the same, and they just enjoyed the peace in silence.
Suddenly, Seraphina chuckled. Draco swung his head to look at her. "What?"
She shook her head and replied, "Nothing. It's just..." She smiled at him and continued, "We've come a long way."
"What do you mean?"
"We went from being enemies to friends. Don't you remember first year-"
"When you tripped me? I never forget it."
"Hey, you totally deserved it."
"What about in second year when you kicked me?"
"I'd do it again," Seraphina said.
Draco rolled his eyes and shook his bangs out of the way. "Just for the record, we weren't really enemies. You're the one who was violent. I never did anything to you."
Seraphina thought about it and slowly nodded in acknowledgement. "I guess that's true... but hey, you used to call me Blakewood. What happened to that? You never call anyone else by their first names." Draco gazed out into the distance, and for a while, he didn't reply. Then he asked, "Do you remember the summer before third year?"
Seraphina examined her nails. "Yeah, I went to a concert and got sunburned, tried to dye my hair but ended up just losing some of it, and visited France with my dad. That was a good time. The France part. Not the sunburn or the losing hair parts."
