Seraphina glanced sideways and saw a few excited Ravenclaws rushing towards the courtyard.

She looked at Draco who was standing glumly in front of her. She knew he was disappointed he couldn't go to Hogsmeade.

This was the second time in a row he wasn't able to go, and quite frankly, she was blue as well. It was unfair he had to go to detention while Felix was free to roam around and have fun.

She had offered to go talk to Madam Hooch, but Draco's big ego prevented her from doing it.

He just muttered something about getting the "old hag" replaced and argued he'd be fine.

He didn't look so "fine" now, especially with that big scowl on his face.

"Shouldn't you already be in detention by now?"

"I told the stupid porcupine I was going to the restroom."

"I'm assuming you're talking about Madam Hooch."

"Hate the hag."

"You hate all the professors, Draco," Seraphina pointed out with an amused smile. She heard shuffling and looked back. Everyone was heading towards Hogsmeade, and Ron gave her an impatient look as he pointed to the clock tower looming above them. Hermione whacked his arm, and Harry silently chortled from under his invisibility cloak.

"Go first, Harry," Hermione whispered, and Harry slipped away before Mcgonagall could sense his presence.

"Well, have fun in detention," Seraphina said with a wave. "I'll bring you back some sweets so don't be too down." She turned to leave when Draco caught her wrist. She spun back around and gave him a quizzical look. He looked very uneasy, as if he had a lot to say.

"I don't have a good feeling about this, Seraphina."

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know. I just don't like you going to Hogsmeade alone. Felix seemed like he was up to something."

"I won't be alone. I'll be with my friends. Nothing happened last time either. It'll be fine."

"What the hell am I supposed to do if my necklace glows green? I won't be able to find you, much less go to you. You want me to lose my mind? Go crazy because I'm stuck with no way to save you?!" He looked like he was hyperventilating.

Gently, she wrapped her hands around his upper arms and calmly said, "Take a deep breath, Draco. Relax, okay? I'll be careful. Promise."

Draco shook his head. He just didn't like his gut feeling. It was telling him something was going to go wrong today. "I can't fucking believe I'm doing this," he muttered.

"Do what?" She asked.

In response, Draco took off his tribulant, making her jaw drop in shock as her shoulders drooped with disappointment.

It was obvious.

He was sick of her now. He didn't want to deal with her.

Why did those ideas hurt her so much?

She was way too involved with him now, and it hit her that she was depending on him too much.

Suddenly, Draco took her hand and put his tribulant in it. "Give this to Potter or Granger. Not that fucking Weasely. He can't do anything right."

Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What...?"

"They'll be able to help you if you're in danger, unlike me... who's in fucking detention because of that fucking old porcupine-looking hag." Draco cast a dark look towards the field. "Honestly, I hate the idea of any of them wearing my necklace, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick Potter because I don't want that mud-"

He shut up and took a deep before saying, "Just give it to damn Potter but make sure he doesn't let it touch his skin. I need it back and I don't want it to be tainted-"

He realized Seraphina had gone silent, and he looked at her. Were those tears in her eyes?

"What's wrong with you?"

I really thought... Seraphina was too overwhelmed with emotions to reply.

Draco softened slightly. "Don't tell me you thought I was throwing this way. Are you mad? Do you know how rare tribulants are? You better not lose yours either, or I'll make you pay." His shy attempt to lighten the mood did the trick, and she sniffled before looking away from him. "I told you. I'll be fine. I'll see you later." She squeezed his tribulant and turned to go.

He didn't let her wrist go, and she sighed as she faced him. "What now?"

Draco enclosed the distance between them. He slightly cupped her chin, slightly, tilted her face up, and planted his lips on her forehead. Her eyes widened as her heart rate picked up speed. It was just a brush and nothing more than a peck, but her face grew red, and she was flushed from head to toe. "Be safe," Draco whispered.

Seraphina opened her mouth, and her jaw quivered a little. She couldn't really bring herself to say anything. She lifted her gaze and locked eyes with him. She closed her mouth and nodded in promise. Draco gave her a small but gentle smirk and started to walk away.

Seraphina put a hand over her rapidly beating heart, and a warm smile spread on her face. Clutching onto his tribulant, she walked towards Hermione and Ron.

"What was that?!" Ron demanded.

"What was what?"

"Don't play dumb with me! I saw that! He kissed you!"

"He did not."

"He did! Hermione! Tell her!"

Hermione glanced at Seraphina with an uncertain look but kept her mouth shut. "Let's go. Harry is probably at the pub already."

"Good idea," Seraphina said as she hooked her arm around Hermione's and tugged her towards the gate.

"Nuh-uh! We are not ignoring that! Seraphina, come back here!" Ron rushed after them while persistently demanding an explanation.

-----

Draco ducked behind the wall and put a hand over his pounding heart. He didn't know why he had done that. It just happened out of pure instinct. She looked vulnerable, and he wanted to reassure her somehow. His heart rate wasn't slowing down, and he swore there was some color in his usual pale cheeks.

Draco knew this was wrong, but it felt so right, and slowly, a smile spread on his face.

Seraphina Blakewood made him feel all kinds of unfamiliar emotions, and he was falling harder and harder for her.

"Mr. Malfoy?" Professor Mcgonagall's voice snapped him out of his daze. She clasped her hands in front of her and peered at him through her spectacles. "I believe you have detention with Madame Hooch."

"I'm on my way," Draco said and hurried off, but the smile wasn't leaving his face anytime soon.
