Seraphina poked her head into the Great Hall.

She saw Draco surrounded by his friends.

Of course, Pansy was clinging onto him. He snatched his arm away a few times, but she didn't get the hint.

Obviously, she couldn't approach him now. It would be a death sentence. She had been trying to approach him a few times, but he was always with his goons. There was only one time she had spotted him alone, but when she had tried to catch up with him in the hallway, Snape called him, and she lost her chance again.

"Seraphina?" "Ah!" She jumped and spun around.

Hermione gave her a worried look. "Are you all right?"

"Me? Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Why are you hanging out here? Let's go in."

"Yeah..." She followed Hermione into the Great Hall. Her gaze flickered over to Draco. He glanced up and locked eyes with her, but Pansy said something to him, causing his attention to jerk towards her.

Seraphina sighed heavily, I'm never going to be able to apologize to him at this point. Maybe I should send Pigmy. No, sending an owl is even stranger. Forget it.

-----

One night, Seraphina went to the library to finish her charms essay. She still had two rolls of parchment left to write, and she knew it would take all night because she was too distracted by so many things.

With a sigh, she trudged towards the center to find a table. She was running out of luck because every seat was taken.

"Sorry," Neville mouthed with an apologetic look. She waved to let him know it was fine and went to the other side of the library.

Seraphina turned her head and froze. She saw Draco sitting at a table, and maybe it was a coincidence or not, but the only available seat was in front of him. Here goes nothing. Seraphina took a deep breath and approached him. "Hey..."

Draco paused before lifting his gaze. "Um, do you mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is taken..." She glanced to her right and nodded, as if wanting to prove she wasn't' making it up. Draco shrugged and looked back down at his book.

I guess that's a start. Not a positive one, but it's better than a 'go away, mudblood's friend.'

Seraphina sank into the chair and started to open up her books. She picked up her quill but couldn't start writing. If she didn't get this off her chest, she wouldn't be able to focus at all. Seraphina sighed and smacked the quill down.

"Look, we need to talk."

"You sure you want to talk to a creep?"

"I-" She closed her mouth and frowned. "Okay... I deserved that. I admit I went too far. I didn't mean..." She closed her mouth as she tried to organize her thoughts.

Finally, she said, "I want to apologize to you, Draco." The word "apologize" caught his attention, and he stared at her. "You were just, surprisingly enough, looking out for my best interest. I didn't have to pay you back with insults. And... I heard that you saved me. I mean, I remember seeing you, but I wasn't sure. But Oliver told me what you did, and I realized I had been too harsh on you. I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm sorry. And..." Seraphina lifted her gaze and softened when she locked eyes with him. "Thank you," she whispered.

Draco studied her eyes to make sure she wasn't pulling his leg. Then he smirked. His eyes were kind though, and she knew they were back to being "okay."

"So we're friends now."

Seraphina rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't say that. Besides, you wouldn't want to be friends with a Gryffindor."

"You're bloody right. I wouldn't be caught dead with a Gryffindork."

For some reason, that stung, and her eyes dimmed with disappointment.

"But I want to be friends with you, Seraphina."

His words caught her off guard, and she locked eyes with him once more.

For a long time, they stared at each other in silence.
