Once Draco and Seraphina were done with everything, they packed up and left the library together. Draco looked down, saw her hand, and took it without thought. It was like he couldn't function if he wasn't somehow touching her anymore.
They arrived in front of her dormitory and faced each other.
"Well... I guess I'll see you tomorrow..." Seraphina said with uncertainty.
Draco nodded, and awkwardness permeated the air. They were both unwilling to let go of each other's hands, but there really was nothing else they could do at this ungodly hour.
"Unhand her at once, boy!" Sir Cadogan cried out as he pointed his sword in Draco's direction. Draco rolled his eyes and muttered something about "a stupid knight."
"Miss, are you in distress? I'll save you!"
"I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the Fat Lady," Seraphina whispered.
"I'm not even in Gryffindor, but I miss her, too," Draco said, making Seraphina laugh.
"What are you two doing here at this hour?"
They turned around to see Snape. It was odd he would be anywhere near the Gryffindor dormitory, especially so late at night.
"We were just coming back from the library," Draco explained.
Snape saw their linked hands and arched an eyebrow. "I see..."
Seraphina followed his gaze and pulled away from Draco. Her ears burned red, and she looked up at the ceiling. Maybe something would drop on her and she'd fall unconscious.
"It's late, Mr. Malfoy. You should head to your dorm," Snape said with a look.
Draco glanced at Seraphina before replying, "Yes, Professor." He left, and now, it was just Seraphina and Snape. He looked in her direction, and she made a bolt for the entrance. "Scurvy-"
"Miss Blakewood, a word," Snape drawled.
Seraphina closed her eyes and cursed herself for not being fast enough. Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes and faced the professor. "Yes?"
Snape took his time walking towards her, and she wondered if he hid an anvil under his black cloak. "This is for you." Snape pulled out a vial from the cloak she had been staring at and held it out to her.
"What... is this?" Seraphina asked warily as she took it.
"It'll help with your bruises. If you take it before bed, they should be gone by tomorrow morning."
She gawped at him. He was actually being nice to her?!
Snape turned swiftly, and he disappeared behind the corridor.
"...Thank you," Seraphina whispered to the empty air and smiled gratefully. I'm starting to think I had the wrong idea about Slytherins.
