It was the day of the Hogsmeade trip.
Seraphina was pretty excited. It was her first time going there, and she had heard nothing but good things about it. She spotted Hermione, Harry, and Ron in the quad and lit up with a smile. She lifted her hand up to wave but noticed the dark shadow across Harry's face. What's wrong? Seraphina slowed down and overheard Professor Mcgonagall talking to Harry.
"I can't sign the slip. Only a parent or guardian could sign it. Since I am neither, it would be inappropriate."
But his stupid, fat uncle would never sign that thing just to make Harry more miserable than necessary, Seraphina thought with a frown. She had never seen Harry so disappointed before. Professor Mcgonagall turned around and spotted her. "Ah, Miss Blakewood. Do you have your permission slip for Hogsmeade?" She held out her hand and looked expectantly at her.
Seraphina hid her hands behind her back and smoothly folded up the piece of paper. "No, I'm actually not going. I forgot to get my dad's signature."
"Ah, I see. Well, I guess that's good. You can keep Mr. Potter company." She went to attend the other students.
Hermione gave Seraphina a baffled look. "But I thought-"
Seraphina waved with a bright smile. "Have fun, you two. Don't forget to bring us something from Honeydukes."
"Okay..." Hermione gave her a sad frown. "Come on, Ron."
on gave them an apologetic look and left with her.
Harry looked at Seraphina with bafflement. "But I thought your dad sent you your permission slip. It was with those Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes photos."
Seraphina tucked the folded permission slip into her purse. "I don't know what you're talking about. And you better not know either." She gave him a warning look, and he laughed. Then he smiled appreciatively at her. "Thanks, Seraphina. I... I really appreciate it."
She shrugged. "Like I said, I don't know what you're talking about." But she smiled, and he knew the truth.
Just then, someone rammed into Harry.
"Watch it, Potter! You don't own the road!" Draco snarled as he strode off towards the direction of Hogsmeade.
"What's his problem?" Harry muttered.
Seraphina frowned. He was strangely aggressive and irritable, almost as if he was jealous.
"You know Draco. He has mood swings like an ovulating woman."
"Seraphina!" Harry laughed.
"Come on. Let's go explore the castle with your invisible cloak!" Seraphina hooked her arm around his with a friendly grin, and they headed back inside together.
-----
Seraphina loved the forbidden forest... in the daytime. It truly was beautiful, and the peaceful atmosphere helped calm her nerves. When the sun dipped a little lower, Seraphina and Harry went to the bridge. The view was splendid, and it reminded her why she loved Hogwarts so much.
"I'm sorry you missed out on Hogsmeade because of me," Harry said.
Seraphina waved her hand in dismissal. "I bet it's the same as Diagon Alley."
His lips quirked upwards. "So your dad did sign the permission slip."
Without missing a beat, she replied, "He did, but he changed his mind and told me not to go because of magical boys."
