Seraphina jolted awake and looked around the room.

No one was here. Not even Hermione.

"No... please no..." She checked the time and groaned.

She was LATE! And it was the first day!

God, I hate the fact that I'm such a heavy sleeper! I didn't even notice the damn dementors on the train yesterday! This is exactly why I need Hermione to wake me up. Where is she anyways? She would never let me be late. OOF!

She winced as she struggled to get up. It was a good thing no one was here to witness her being such a mess. She finished putting her socks on and shoved her feet into the closest shoes before grabbing her books. She fled past the other late students and ran towards her first class, which was charms. She darted inside and froze.

Everyone was staring at her now. She ducked her head and rushed towards Ron and Harry.

"Someone's late," Ron guffawed.

"Shut up, Ron," Seraphina muttered.

"What happened?" Harry asked, genuinely concerned unlike someone

"Can't you tell, mate? She slept in! Like a log!" Ron laughed.

Seraphina slapped his chest with her book and glared at him. "I can speak for myself, thanks."

"Bloody hell, it's at times like this that I think you really belong in Slytherin. If looks could kill..."

"You'd be dead, Weasley," Seraphina snapped.

Ron's eyes widened. "See? Did you see that, Harry? Did you?"

"Stop provoking her, Ron," Harry said.

"Where's Hermione, by the way?" Seraphina asked as she attempted to tie her hair into a bun.

"Dunno. Oh my god, Seraphina. No way," Ron said with wide eyes.

"What? What?" Seraphina was confused at the way he was staring at her neck. She mistook him and slapped his arm. "Are you looking at my chest?!"

"No! Are you nuts? It's just that... you forgot your tie!" Ron pointed out.

Seraphina looked down at herself and groaned, "Shit."

"Professor Flitwick is nice. He won't deduct points from you," Harry assured.

"Yeah, but it's too bad Flitwick is out for the week. It's Professor Peterson. You know her. She likes to humiliate people just because she's still single and lives with 42 cats. If she's miserable, you need to be miserable too," Ron said.

Just then, Professor Peterson entered the room. Like always, she was wearing way too much mascara, and her lips were bright orange, like she just came from shoving pumpkins into her mouth. She wished the twins were here. They could probably get her out of this predicament. "Everyone, stand up and go to the back for robe check!"

Her shrill voice was giving Seraphina a headache already.

"Good luck," Ron snickered with a shrug as he left.

"I'll give you my tie, Seraphina," Harry offered.

"No," she sighed. "It's fine. I'll just be honest. How bad can she be?"

At that exact moment, Professor Peterson yelled, "Anyone who broke the robe rules will serve detention for a week!"

"God damn it," Seraphina muttered as she stood up. She went to the back and nervously fumbled with her shirt. She started to rehearse different ways to break the unfortunate news to the professor. Out of nowhere, a pair of arms came around her, and she jumped at the color green. A Slytherin!

She noticed a flash of blonde and panicked.

"Draco, what are you doing?!" She struggled to get away from him, but he wrapped something around her neck. Oh my god! He's going to choke me to death! I knew he was acting fishy! I should've cursed his ass yesterday!

"Let go," Seraphina snapped.

"Hold still, Seraphina," Draco whispered softly. She froze at the gentleness in his voice. She dared glance down, and her eyes widened. It's his... tie. He was behind her, but he was quite deft at looping the thing around her own collar.

"W-What are you doing, Draco? Peterson isn't an idiot. She'll know I'm not in Slytherin," Seraphina muttered with a glare. He didn't even respond as he continued tying the tie around her. Once done, he pointed his wand at the tie and whispered a spell she didn't even know existed. At once, the silver and green tie turned scarlet and gold. Her eyes widened in shock, and she just stood there in pure wonder.

"Next!" The professor shouted.

Seraphina looked at Draco who gave her a half-smirk and moved in front of her. "Sorry, forgot my tie. Couldn't breathe with it." His smart-ass comment made the Slytherins laugh.

Professor Peterson frowned. "Detention for a week, Mr. Malfoy. Don't you dare try to sneak out of it, or I'll talk to Snape myself."

Draco shrugged and went back to his desk.

"Ms. Blakewood?" The professor came in front of her and eyed her up and down. "You may sit down."

Seraphina went back to her seat, and Ron looked at her in puzzlement. "Where'd you get that tie?"

"I..."

"You're being so loud, Ron."

"Bloody hell, Hermione! Where did you come from?"

"I was here all this time."

"You're lying."

 "Be quiet, Ron."

Seraphina agreed with Ron but kept quiet. Right now, she needed the distraction to sort out her thoughts. She carefully lifted her gaze towards Draco who was leafing through the pages of his charms book. Why... is he so different this year?
