Higher power - Lando Norris

25.

Warning:  the next two chapters (after this chapter) will be heavy and sad, it's about the passing of Nina's mom, so if you don't want to read it you can comment or message me and I will keep you up on the story till it's readable again for people who don't want to read about depression and losing a loved one.

I walked into the airport and looked around for a familiar face, suddenly I see him, my brother. I missed him a lot and hadn't seen him in 6 months, I run up to him and jump in his arm, he hugs me tight and when we pull back, I look at him, he has tears in his eyes and I also was a emotional mess. "how is she doing?" he ask me "Well not so good, she sleeps for 23 hours to be an hour awake and then sleeps again" my brother nods, "Lets go see her" I whisper to him and I grab his hand, we walk outside and I see Lando on his phone in front of his papaya colored car. "where is your car?" my brother ask and I point to Lando his car "he took me here, thought you would like that car more" I look at my brother and there is a big smile on his face, when he sees Lando standing in front of his car he looked at me. "do you have a boyfriend?" I shake my head "no, dumb ass he is just a friend" he nods "yea sure" he didn't believe me but I didn't care and at that moment Lando looks up from his phone and he smiles at me before looking at my brother. I could see Lando was a bit nervous and awkward to meet my brother but I get why, brothers are always way to overprotective over their little sisters. My brother cared for me but also gave most guys who I liked a change for dating me, but when he would turn into a dick he would be mad and he would tried to fight them. 

"hey you must be Luke right?" Lando starts the conversation and he and my brother share a man hug "Hey, yes I'm her brother, you are Lando right? you race against our nephew?" Lando nods "yes that's me" their was a little awkward silence before I start to giggle about them being awkward as hell "you guys will get along, now let's get back home" 

My brother was already upstairs for over an hour, I let him have a moment with my mom alone. I walk into the kitchen to see Lando leaning against the counter, I grab a glass and fill it with water. Lando didn't notice me because he was looking at his phone but when I opened the tap he looked over his shoulder and saw me. I turn around from the tap and he stands in front of me, it scared me a little because I didn't hear him behind me. He smiled at me and grabbed my glass of water, he took a sip and put the glass down. I playfully slap his chest "that was mine, u could get your own glass" he laughs softly "I don't really care" I laugh at him "dumb ass". He gives me a faked shocked face, I shake my head and look down breaking the eye contact. "How are you?" Lando ask me suddenly, "well, could have been better you know, but I'm really glad you and Luke are here" Lando nods "of course sunshine" he pulls me into a hug and puts his chin on my head.

When I pull out of the hug I see my brother standing in the doorway, you could see he cried before he came in. I walk up to him and hug him tight, "she is not doing well, Nina" I nod into the hug "I know Luke but we will have to be there for her and it will be difficult but we will get through" this time Luke nods and we pull out of the hug. "What do you guys want for dinner?" I look back at Lando, taking the last sip of my glass of water, I look at him annoyed. "We could order pizza" I hear from behind me, I smiled back at Luke "sure pizza is fine with me" Lando also nods "my trainer is gonna kill me but pizza is fine" Luke laughs and then leaves the room. I walk up to Lando and get close to his face, you could see a bit of fear in his eyes, he probably though I was gonna kiss him. After a few seconds he grins, almost knowing for sure we were gonna kiss but when he was about to pull in I whisper "don't steal my water" with that I turn around and walk away. I have a big smile on my face and feel like a bad bitch, knowing damm wel that Lando wouldn't like this, "you are a tease" I hear from behind me but I don't respond.

I walk upstairs to my moms room, she is asleep and I sit quietly besides her, I grab her hand softly and give it a kiss with tears in my eyes, I knew it wouldn't take long before it was her time. My mom opens her eyes and looks sleepy at me "I'm sorry mom, I didn't want to wake you up" I whisper with a broken voice. "It's alright sweetheart, don't worry about it", she let her hand touch my cheek and whipped a tear away, "It's going to be fine, you have two amazing boys in your life who will take care of you", "I don't want to be taken care off, I'm strong on my own" she nods and closes her eyes again, she falls asleep and I decide to sit by her side it a little longer before I hear the doorbell, probably the pizzas arriving.

I go to the bathroom to fix my eyes a bit before going downstairs, I stand still in the doorway looking at laughing Lando and Luke, Lando was in tears and Luke was choking on his own breath. It made me laugh as well and I walk up to the table and sit besides Lando, "you alright?" he nods and tries to hold his laugh before bursting again from laughter. After some time they both calm down and we start eating  the pizza, "So Nina, I have to ask you something and you may feel uncomfortable but I need to ask" Luke suddenly said, Lando instantly lays his hand on my knee under the table. I nod "what is it Luke", Luke clears his throat "I want to talk to you about were are you moving to when mom passes" I choke on my pizza and cough for a while before looking at him again "I... I don't know yet" He nods, "you can always move in with me, you know but I'm never home and I know you are still not sure what you will do after college" I nod, "well Max offered me to go with him for some time, to see more of the world and you know I love race weekends" Luke nods "that's perfect, we can always see were you will go after that", Lando looks at me "she could always move in with me if she wants to" Luke nods again "yea there are enough places where she could move in, we will see"

A/N

SORRRYYYYY,, I didn't post for a long time because school started again and I have no freaking drafts right now who I would only have to fix and post. Next Wednesday hopefully I'm free and then I will have some time for writing again. Also this chapter is shitty but see it as a fill up and I hope the next chapter will be with a bit more emotion that this.
