Higher power - Lando Norris

21. Stay

I look at my mom with panic in my eyes "It will be okay honey" my mom assured me and I stood up and walked downstairs. I open the door to Lando.......

We look at each other without saying a word, I see that Lando is overthinking this whole situation. "Hey, how are you?" Lando finally speaks up. I snap back from my thoughts before I respond to him "I'm okay, I think. Thanks for coming, come in" He walks inside of my house and takes of his jacket while looking at a picture at the wall. It was a picture of me and my dad, my dad was already sick in the picture and it was very clear, he looked tired and was bold from the chemotherapy, never the less he smiled at looked happy with his daughter next to him.

Lando looked back at me after observing some other picture of me and my family and friends, "How is your mom doing?" I give him a little smile " she is okay today, she wanted to meet you before she..But today is a good day for her" Lando could see the pain in my eyes, I tried to stay strong but in front of him I was weak, still a bit hurt from his words but also really relieved he could support me now when I needed it. He pulled me into his embrace, I could feel his warm breath in my hair and he kissed the top of my head. I was crying my eyes out trying to controle myself, but I couldn't anymore, I was broken and couldn't deal with the pain anymore, the pain and fear of losing my mom soon.

Lando kept whisper sweet things like " it's going to be alright", "we will get through this together and "I'm here for you" he really tried his best to calm me down and eventually it helped. I whipped away my tears and pulled back from the hug, we hugged for almost a hour it felt like but it was probably ten minutes. "you want to meet her?" I ask Lando with a bit of a broken voice. Lando nod and gave her a small smile. I grabbed his hand and took him upstairs, I slowed my pace when we were already close to my moms room. I look back at Lando "thanks for being here, she really wanted to meet you and I also could use some support" Lando pulled me again in a hug but this time I didn't cry, I just liked the company of Lando feeling myself relax a bit more in his arms. I pull back from the hug and look him in his beautiful blue eyes, "Okay, are you ready?" he nods and we walk inside the room. My aunt and mother stopped talking when we walked in and there grew a huge smile on my mothers face, "Mom, Auntie this is Lando, a really good friend of mine" I sqeeuzed his hand and he spoke up "Really nice to meet you miss Verstappen" My aunt walked out of the room to give us three a bit more space and my mom signed to Lando to come sit at the side of her bed. He let go of my hand and walked towards my mom, she instantly sat up and gave Lando a friendly hug "Thank you for looking out for my daughter" He smiled at my mom "Of course, you have a beautiful daughter" with that he looked back at me and smiled at me, I smiled back at him and enjoy the conversation my mom and Lando have together. They really get on with each other and my mother liked the boy already so I was happy he was here for me but also to cheer up my mom a bit.

After talking for a while about the podium Lando had last week and the upcoming race my mom looked a bit tired of all the interactions. "I loved talking to you Lando, but I need to nap for a while now. Will you join us for dinner?" I frown I didn't really eat dinner with my mom for over the past two months simply because no food would taste good for my mom, so normally we would just eat in her bed the two of us watching some series on the tv. I didn't really know if my mom would be able to get downstairs on her own, it would probably take an hour because she would be tired after two steps on the stairs. Lando looks at me and then nods "yeah sure, I will stay for dinner. Me and Nina will cook something" my mom smiled at Lando and with that she closes her eyes, I still had an confused look on my face, not getting what was going on really. Lando walked over to me and hugged me while whispering "we will come up with something to eat dinner together" did this guy read minds or something. I nod and we walked out of the room, downstairs to the sofa "Cup of tea?" I ask Lando, he nods and I dissapear inside the kitchen while Lando looks around in the living room. Their were a lot of pictures of vacations, family and lots more.
