Fliegerfausts, are specialist weapons used within the Kovenant Imperial Army and special forces units, as a dedicated anti air weapon that can be carried around and used effectively by the troops.

The Fliegerfaust was an old concept that had been introduced long ago into the Kovenant Imperial Army. They were designed to be a portable anti air weapon that can be carried by individual soldiers for taking out enemy aircraft, including fast moving jet fighters and bombers, as well as for providing the troops with Anti air capabilities in general, incase they don't have AA batteries to cover them as they advance or defend a position.

The Fliegerfaust is typically issued to Platoon sized formations or higher.
For Platoons, they would typically recieve up to 5 Fliegerfaust that were given to atleast one the riflemen of each individual squad, of course the soldiers will have alrssy recieved training to operate this in their time in the Garrisons, however it is recommend that a quick refresher training course is needed to aid in this.

The Fliegerfaust incorporated a variety of missile guidance systems, once locked on a fast moving fighter or bomber, Dropship or even Dropods, the Fliegerfaust typically launches a single armour piercing high explosive rocket to destroy the target as it flies above them.

This missiles are typically guided and using the guidance system of the Fliegerfaust, which gives them a high degree of solid accuracy.
Additionally the missiles themselves are not only given an armour piercing exploding missile that can penetrate and shred aircraft and other flying targets to pieces quite easily, but that the missiles themselves are small as well.

The way in which the Fliegerfaust fires is that it loads decently sized canisters. This canisters contain no less than 6 Fliegerfaust missiles within them.
The Fliegerfaust is reloaded by loading the rocket cannister from the back side of the weapon until it is loaded and secured, once loaded the Fliegerfaust will be able to fire continuously until the canister is spent. At which point it is automatically ejected, ready for another canister to reload.

This canisters are also relatively small and the one soldier who is armed with a Fliegerfaust is expected to be able to carry no less than 4 extra canisters that were stored inside of a protective cylinder container to keep it safe until further use.
(As can be seen in the picture at the start of this chapter)

In the absence of AA Panzers such as the Ostwind - 3 "Wirlberwind" the Fliegerfaust is the go to anti air weapon for many Infantry men.

It is also an economical weapons, each canister can later be reclaimed by the soldiers and than they can be reused again by simply loading more rockets after cleaning them.
This meant that the Fliegerfaust missile cannisters were also expected to last the soldiers the entire campaign and only needing replacing should the cannister be warped or destroyed and thus rendered unusable.

This meant that each soldier carrying a Fliegerfaust has 30 anti air missiles on them (Counting the one already within the Fliegerfaust, making it 5 missile Cannisters in total.)
