At Last
(NehpetsEnal) #101
A last I've passed one hundred, that fateful number
Oh, how along the way I've tripped and stumbled
The path was never straight and narrow
But an ever-changing challenge
My first target was simply to get pen on paper
But for that I needed inspiration
That was then I discovered it was right in front of my nose
It came in the form of some fascinating prompts
Some of which I completely misunderstood
Thank goodness, I was helped along by an angel
Then some seemed unsurmountable, like a mountain
To make it harder I looked back through my work
And found that some eight of my pieces didn't meet the eight-line target
This eighth thing is a kind of irony, which has left me with another hill to climb
Come what may, I won't give up, with just another seven to go
I will finish this book, and can't wait to rest it on the shelf
