Belief

(NehpetsEnal) #96

I envy those who have faith

Although I see it as a form of emotional blindness

So, I sit and ponder, wondering if faith has ever helped us

Why do people like to imagine they have a lord and master

For all we ever talk about are human rights and free will

I find these things to be contradictory

If you have a lord and master who is responsible for the creation

Why would it give us free will, to create death and destruction

And would we really do that if we were made in its image

For all we do is the polar opposite

There are those, who like to think we are punished for our sins

I don't like it, but is there really any truth in the concept

I mean, isn't it just a form of survival, eking out the week

We don't complain when we see animals do it

Or complain when our sacrificial Sunday roast is laid upon the table

Belief is just another state of mind

It is an emotional necessity

It drives us on when things seem impossible

And makes us strong, forging the will to survive

But beware it's a quality, that manipulators will feast upon
