Our Fingers

Our Fingers

What an amazing feat of evolution

But have you ever noticed

How they are so often

The source of irritating noises

Such as typing endlessly text messages, instead of talking

Persistent staccato tapping, of an inanimate object

Or dragging your fingers across a pane of glass

Which is my pet hate

They have proven to be very versatile

Humanity has adapted them in many ways

For other more disgusting things

Such as playing with your extremities

Squishing acne, over the bathroom mirror

Or picking your nose

Which is my pet hate

We could go on forever

But let's end it here

By being rude

And sticking our forefinger in the air

As a typical departing gesture

Footnote:

What an interesting subject for a poem, it highlights a couple of my pet hates, but if we are honest, not a single one of us has not performed any of these at one time or another.
