I kept my eyes fixated on Bellamy, who was sleeping, as I helped one kid drink some water. I stared at him with a worried look. He couldn't be sick. Am I the reason he's sick? I touched him when I was sick. Is that how he got the virus?
Guilt panged in my chest; I could be the reason Bellamy has the virus. I could be the reason he dies from it.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard choking. Turning my attention back on the kid, he was choking on the water I gave him. I quickly took the water cup away from his mouth. "Sorry." I mumble, giving him an apologetic look. I scurried away from him and went to set the cup down.
Octavia, John, and I had been helping kids all night. Clarke was still resting, and Octavia was now in her tent getting some much-earned rest, leaving my brother and me to man the level.
"Bellamy, you're sick, okay? I'm just trying to help." Speak of the devil. I turned my attention to the two boys. John is crouched in front of Bellamy, and he is obviously not happy that John was trying to help him.
I stood there watching in curiosity at what was going to happen. However, I made sure to be ready to jump in if need be.
"Here." John reached for a cloth and held it out. Bellamy ignored him and wiped the blood off his nose with the sleeve of his jacket.
"When I get better, if you're still here—" I took this as my moment to jump in.
"John," I called, walking up behind him. "I got him."
John nodded his head before handing me the cup of water. I took it before sitting next to Bellamy.
"Here." I held out the cup.
Bellamy took it willingly, causing me to internally laugh. He just refused the same cup of water from my brother moments ago.
"Thought you might've been dead with how heavy you slept." I smiled, repeating the same words he told me when we were in that cave with Charlotte.
Bellamy smiles before speaking softly. "You must be feeling better."
"Yeah, I am." I said with my smile, smile growing. Nudging his shoulder with mine, I added. "You will be too."
Bellamy mustered up another small smile. "That's good." He started to look around the Dropship, and I assumed he was searching for Octavia. I was proven right when he asked, "Have you seen Octavia?"
"She was up all night helping people." I explained. "Along with me and John."
Bellamy's smile faded at the mention of my brother. "Jo—"
"I know what you're going to say." I interrupted. "Just please, give him a second chance. I think he really wants to do better. I've known him my whole life, please trust me on this."
Bellamy changed the subject. "It's almost dawn. Better get everyone inside. If we lock the doors maybe the Grounders will think we're not home."
"Not everyone is sick, Bellamy." I argued.
"Sick is better than dead."
I took a deep breath, realizing what Bellamy was thinking, "You don't think they're gonna blow the bridge." I heard about this plan but didn't know the exact details.
"Do you?" Bellamy asked.
"I want to. I want to have faith that they will, but... just to be safe, I'll wake Clarke and we can get everyone inside."
❣︎
"Okay, everyone, let's go. We have got to get inside!" I shouted, directing people to the Dropship.
