~eighty-six days since mount weather~
We were coming up on three months since the incident that was Mount Weather and two weeks since Bellamy and I said 'I love you' to one another. Our relationship was at a good place — a great place, to say the least. My life the past three months was pretty good, part of it was rocky, sure, but now, I'd consider my life to be pretty damn good.
Today was no different than any other day, with me being in the Chancellor's office with Kane discussing the next mapping, which happened to be Sector seven. Sector seven bordered a clan named Ice Nation — or Azgeda, which meant Ice Nation in Trigedaslang. Both Kane and I knew it was risky going so close to the border, but it was one of the only Sectors we had left to map and one of the only Sectors we hadn't looked for Clarke in. From what Lincoln said, the Ice Nation were dangerous people that didn't care for the coalition Lexa had in place. Lincoln had also said they were led by a queen who despised Lexa and the coalition. Overall, Lincoln's message was to stay away from them if we could.
"You think Clarke would've strayed that far away from camp?" Kane's voice was quiet as he spoke because just a few feet in front of us, beyond the map that both he and I were staring at, Abby slept peacefully on the couch.
Spending these past two months planning mapping runs with Kane, I'd realized he wasn't as bad as I thought. It was no secret that I wasn't a big fan of anyone who was on the Council on the Ark, but after working with Kane numerous times now, I realized all we wanted was peace for our people. He was a diplomat. Anytime there would need to be something to discuss, he was the one to do so. Of course, Abby was still the Chancellor, but when it came to politics, that was Kane's specialty.
"I think it's possible after three months she could've ended up there." I nodded before crossing my arms over my chest and setting my sights from Kane to the map. "But we won't know unless we check."
"Did Lincoln have anything else to say about Ice Nation?" Kane questioned.
I let out a soft huff of air. "He said that they didn't really like Lexa's coalition, but they are a part of it."
"What about the cease-fire? Will they obey that?" Kane quizzed as we stood shoulder to shoulder, staring at the map.
Shrugging, I lifted my finger to the map and pointed at the line where Trikru land met Azgeda land. "If we stay on this side of the line and we obey the cease-fire, I don't see why they wouldn't."
"Alright." Kane nodded his head before he turned to face me. "But I want you to go on the mapping run today, just to make sure nothing goes wrong."
"So I'm a babysitter now?" I remarked as I fought back a tiny smile that tried to make its way into my lips.
Kane sighed. "I'm serious, Joanna. There hasn't been an attack since Mount Weather. Keeping the cease-fire is one step closer to making sure it stays that way."
My mouth opened to say something back to Kane but was cut off when a quiet knock at the door could be heard. Both mine and Kane's heads turned to the opened door to see Bellamy standing there in his guard's jacket. His eyes met mine for a quick second which sparked a smile on my lips before they went back to Kane.
Kane quickly put his finger up to his mouth to signal Bellamy to be quiet before waving him in the room. "This is the first sleep the Chancellor's had in two days."
