It wasn't long after when Bellamy and I dozed off, with myself on top of him, as his arms were wrapped securely around my back, holding me close. My head rested on his chest, allowing me to hear Bellamy's heartbeat, which I knew was what put me to sleep in the first place. After all the chaos and sporadic events, it was nice to be here with Bellamy, hearing the rhythmic thump of his heartbeat against his chest, providing a steadiness that I surely needed.
When I opened my eyes, they fluttered, trying to adjust from having been closed for an extended time during a long, healthy amount of rest. A small groan left my mouth as my face nuzzled softly back into Bellamy, closing my eyes, ready to relax once again when my eyes shot back open.
Without moving my head, my eyes quickly caught on the small window in my and Bellamy's room but, more specifically, the sunlight rays shining through it. My mind went back to the early morning when I was with Kane, and he was rambling, and I was barely listening. I had heard him mention something about a meeting prior to the group's departure to deliver the fuel but seeing as my mind was all over the place then, I unluckily missed exactly when the meeting was, but I just knew it was going to have to take place soon.
And so, my movements were less than graceful as I rolled on Bellamy, who barely moved at my sudden movements — because, you know, the man slept like a freakin' rock — and I began to shake him vigorously by the shoulders as I spoke in a voice just below a shout. "Bellamy, get up!"
He moaned a little, and if it were any other time, I'd note how cute it was, but now was not that time. "Five more minutes." He mumbled.
"No, not five more minutes." I snapped, still shaking his shoulders, but now he was trying to grab my arms to stop me. "Get. Your. Ass. Up. We have to go."
When the man finally opened his eyes, more than just a squint, he saw what I did and finally realized what it meant. His head snapped from the window where he was looking and back to me. "Damn it. Why didn't you wake me?"
My mouth dropped in exaggerated shock as I hovered over him. "Gee, why didn't I think of that? — I was trying to! What did you think I was doing?"
"We gotta go." He stated, and I resisted the urge to throw another remark at him about how that was an obvious statement but decided to seal my lips.
Let's just say that the next ten minutes of the two of us getting ready weren't all that charming or even orderly chaotic, for that matter. However, somehow even with all the hiccups of getting ready, like Bellamy tossing me his shoes for me to put on instead of my own, we were out the door of our room in a reasonable time.
Bellamy and I hurriedly walked down the corridors, with our steps becoming in sync at one point. As we did so, Bellamy was finishing putting on his guard jacket that was covered in white ash because I refused to let him do it in the room and ordered him to do it on the way, claiming that it be quicker. Which it was — it saved us like a whole minute, something I was grateful for. Quickly we made it to the Chancellor's office where the meeting was taking place, and as Bellamy pulled the door open and I stepped through, all heads immediately turned to us.
As everyone looked at us, expressions ranging from suggestive to slightly disapproving, I gave an embarrassed smile, noticing that they had already started. "Sorry, we're late."
Swiftly, Bellamy and I rounded the table with a small lamp on it that everyone was surrounding — everyone being Monty, Roan, and Kane, standing in that order going counterclockwise. We took a place on the far end of the table that looked across to Roan, and I couldn't help but catch his smirk as he looked at us. Sending him a glare, I inched closer to Bellamy as all attention thankfully turned off us and went to Monty, who gave a quick rundown of the damage the fire did.
