Chapter Nineteen

I started school today :( so if updates are messed up I'm probably dealing with work, but I will still try to do weekly updates!!!

I had been avoiding Lucian all week, after our very awkward moment I was still trying to piece together what I felt.

He was good looking, anyone could see that. He's the god forsaken enemy! The back of my mind screamed at me.

I was here for two reasons, to kill the queen and get my sisters back. I still hadn't gotten the all clear that I should go for her. My fingers aching whenever I was around her, wanting to run my blade across her neck. And watch the warm blood spill down.

But I didn't want to mess up my task, I would go after her once it was all good.

Right now I had to deal with wanting to take her final breath, sexually deprived men, and a horny assassin. And to add to that his brother.

"I'm going to fucking kill him when I get the chance," I whisper under my breath.

I walked to the maid's quarters and slipped inside, I changed into the uniform and walked to the kitchen. Remembering to bow whenever someone passed.

I could smell the fumes from the space wafting through the castle as I got closer. Spices and wine mixed, forming an intoxicating smell.

I walked into the kitchen and scouted for Aria, she was next to three girls all chopping vegetables.

I put a hand on one of the girls' shoulders, and told her I would take over. I looked down at the space beside the spot I was touching. Seeing bruises and hand marks running along her neck.

"Who did this to you," I said quietly, venom dripping from my words.

"I- um," she stuttered out.

"Tell me what's his name?" I said, quiet enough for the other to not hear.

"His name is Hasan," she squealed out, and darted off into the sea of maids.

Fucking Hasan. I'm going to enjoy ending his pathetic life.

I shook off my anger and tried to pick up the knife. Aria looked up from her carrots and her eyes crinkled at the corner. Something I rarely saw in this world.

"Oh my god you're back!" she whispered loudly.

"Yeah," I chuckled.

She was about to say something but a loud crash sounded from the other end of the massive kitchen, everyone abruptly stopped whispering and glanced over to the sound.

Two guards came over and that's when the screaming started, a high pitched yell.I still couldn't see the woman but the crowd parted for the two guards.

They got to the middle of the kitchen, and that's when the breath in my throat stopped. It was a grey haired woman, she had wrinkles of age along her forehead, her skin like pure chocolate.

"Please!" she shouted.

One of the guards grabbed a handful of her hair and started to pull her out of the kitchen. The other looked around the room.

"Did I tell you to stop working?" he shouted so the whole room could hear him.

At that we all turned back to our stations and got back to cleaning and chopping. The screams of the woman getting quieter every minute until it was a ringing silence.
