Dakota sighs as he and Freya exit the amusement park. "I cannot believe that just happened."
"It appears you've gained a new power." Freya remarks as she takes another taste of her ice cream..
Dakota simply buried his face in his hands, groaning, "I know." It was the only thing that made sense. 'That would explain why everything felt so light yesterday and today.' Another ability was exactly what he didn't need right now, especially in public. He hoped they thought it was all a malfunction. That would relieve his stress.
Just as he was about to calm down, another dreadful scenario occurs to him. "What if someone recorded it?" In terror, his head leaps up.
"Recorded?" Freya inquires, finishing the last of her cone.
"It's like a picture, but it's longer?" He rushes, not even trying to explain properly, instead attempting to concentrate on his memory. Is it possible that someone could've recorded them? He prayed no one did since it would be a disaster.
"You're stressed out again," Freya says abruptly, causing him to gaze at her with his brows furrowed apologetically. He kept making her worry. He didn't want to, but he couldn't help it. Being around so many humans was like a ticking time bomb, and it just got worse.
Would more powers start coming out? What even triggered them?
"Sorry, I'm just a little paranoid. I guess I'm starting to realize how out of the ordinary my entire life has become. I can't do the things I used to be able to do. I can't go about my life anymore as though no one will ever notice me." People usually didn't even look at him. He'd never really been the center of attention before. If he was, it was usually out of his own clumsiness or embarrassment.
Such as when he got fired.
Dakota had already concluded years ago he didn't like having attention from others. Besides, all he really needed was Freya's attention...
Freya leans in closer, making his breath hitch. She looks deeply into his eyes, and softly caressed his cheek. The motion calmed him, and he sorta forgot why he was even stressed.
"If being here causes you distress, we can return home now. I dislike seeing you like this."
Dakota sighs into her hand, the warmth of it sending tingles through him. It sounded so tempting— going back to their peaceful and semi-stress free days. But he knew he couldn't go. He had things he had to do, things he had to worry about. Such as his heat— if he returned home with Freya, he'd have no were to hide.
"I'm fine Freya," Dakota says, placing his palm on the hand attached to his cheek. She didn't look convinced, but she kisses him. The kiss almost made him cling to her and moan, but it was over in seconds.
