Dakota and Freya stood in front of Dakota's metal apartment door. Freya just looked around confused, while Dakota just stood there. He was finally home, he was finally back to his home that he wouldn't lie and say he didn't miss.
It'd been almost a month since he'd been here. It felt way longer than that to Dakota.
"Are you not going to enter?" She asked confused.
He sighs, "Yeah, I just feel weird. It's been forever since I've entered this apartment."
Dakota bends down and pulls the rug, revealing a silver key. He grabs it and fiddles with the lock on the door. A click sounds and he takes a breath as he opens the door. The first thing he notices is— nothing. He enters, Freya behind him, and looks around.
Nothing was out of place, nothing was new, nothing had changed. Despite that fact, Dakota smiles at his familiar home. "Glad to be back," He mumbles.
He turns to Freya and opens his arms, "Welcome to my home."
"This home is very small." She comments.
Dakota shrugs, "Well I've never been a fan of huge houses. I mean if I'm the only person living there, why should it have 50 rooms?" He jokes.
Freya's expressionless face tightens, "Do you not like the castle? I can make another one?"
"Oh no! I didn't mean that. The castles fine, although it's a little spacious.. I mean, I love it!" He stumbles.
He groans, "Oh never mind. Let me just show you around." He walks forward into the apartment.
"This is the living room." He gestures. "Over there is the kitchen."
Freya started touching everything and sniffing everything immediately. Dakota stood there looking confused. As she wandered into the kitchen, she began to search it.
Dakota closed his eyes, already knowing what was about to be asked.
"Why don't you have food? I thought humans needed to survive?"
The last thing he wanted was for her to ask that question. An eye was peeled open, and Freya was right there in front of him. That startles him, making him back away— but a hand on his back stops him.
"Uh, well- you see." Dakota wasn't sure what to tell her! He definitely couldn't lie, nor could he tell a half-truth. He had to tell her the truth.
