The car sped through the mostly deserted streets. Out the window, the sun shined brilliantly.
Dakota was making every effort to concentrate solely on driving. He was once again lost in his thoughts since the journey had been silent thus far. He persuaded himself that today would be ordinary, but his subconscious warned him that it would be everything but.

Freya looked confused at him, "Why would you apologize? Those humans are to blame, not you."
"I guess." He turns the wheel. "There's the beach," he smiles.
"It's quite beautiful." She comments.

Dakota murmured, "Yeah, that is," as he turned around and pulled into the parking spot.
On the beach, there were a few people, but not many. Dakota puts the car in park and takes the keys from the ignition.
"All right, let's go." He steps out the door after opening it. "Yuki said she'd come late, but that's okay; we'll have plenty of time to set up our spot."
Before turning, he stretches and yawns. Freya appears in front of him, holding all of their belongings in her two hands, and he jumps slightly.
Dakota grins, "Do you need help?"
Freya shakes her head with a frown. He chuckles, "okay then, let's find a nice spot to relax."
They descend the stone steps and step onto the sand. Dakota stops, removes his flip-flops, and grabs them. While wriggling his toes, he feels his heart warm.
