Our hands separate as our heads are submerged, and I quickly swim back to the surface. I wiped my wet hair out of my face and look around for Rhyan, who was no where in sight.
Suddenly, I feel something touch my leg and I gasped. I looked down to see a certain boy's hand lightly sliding past my kneecap. I laugh, then use the foot of my other leg to push down on his shoulder.
My action causes Rhyan to be forced back down into the water while I was given the leverage to swim away. When he came up, I was about ten feet away, laughing at him.
"Hey, no fair!" He hollered.
"Payback's a bitch isn't it?" I hollered back, wadding backwards untill my feet reach the sandy shore.
I stood on my tiptoes. My shoulders barely peeked out of the water due to my lack of height.
He swam toward me and I waited for him to reach the shore. His head poked out of the water in front of me and I giggled.
"Hey." I grinned.
He glared at me, which caused me to giggle again.
"What's the matter? Cat got your tounge?"
He waded closer, which caused me to step back, and soon enough I'm waist deep and his gaze is hovering over me.
"If anything, I'm the cat," he growled, seductively, "And we pray on little mouses like you."
My breath quickened and he smiled wickedly. Before I knew what was happening, he picked me up and threw me into the water.
I squeaked, much like a mouse would, as I flew through the air and hit the water with a splash. I came up and coughed, staring at his laughing figure.
I swam to the shore and begin to walk towards him.
"Ow!" I cry, pretending to be hurt.
His eyebrows furrow as he comes towards me, "Are you okay?"
"It's my ankle. I think it might have hit the wrong way." I lied, staying where I was and hunching over as if in pain.
"Shit, Gabbie. Here, let me take a look at it."
As be bent into the water to grab my ankle, I kicked his chest, pushing him off balance. I laughed as he fell on the watery shore.
Guys are such suckers.
"Think that's funny?"
I nodded enthusiastically, laughing too hard to give a vocal response. I finally catch my breath, then held out my hand. He helped me up, and we were both standing in the ankle-deep water.
He shook the water out of his dark hair. It was sticking up, unevenly.
I watched his face and resisted the urge to gaze downward at the rest of his body.
So deep in my thoughts, I didn't hear him say my name untill he gently shook my shoulders.
"Gabbie?"
"Yeah?" I asked, focusing on his face.
"You wanna go somewhere?"
My forehead wrinkled as I looked around, "Aren't we somewhere now?"
He chucked, "I know a place close to here that's super awesome."
"Of course you do." I replied, "What is it? Are we going to wrestle crocodiles now?"
"Not today." He teased, "It's a surprise."
He took my hand.
I rolled my eyes and let him lead me through a small cluster of trees. On the other side was a large cave carved into the rocks. I could see that it goes back farther, but it was too dark to see how far back it goes.
