My eyes widened when I saw him.
When we made eye contact, it was different this time. The dark, unfamiliar look had been replaced altogether.
He licked his lips, exhaling slowly, as if suddenly tired.
"Can we talk?" He let out, scratching the back of his neck.
"Why would I want to talk to you?" I crossed my arms, standing up from the couch.
"Please, Gabriella, it's an emergency."
I glanced over at mom who was standing behind him. She nodded, slowly.
"What if dad gets home early?" I called past Jake, obviously wanting mom's help on this one.
"I'll talk to him," Mom placed a comforting hand on Jake's shoulder, to which he turned, giving her a thankful smile.
He met my gaze after a few seconds, his eyes pleading.
"Five minutes." I mumbled, storming past both of them, and up the stairs.
I know I don't want anything to do with him. He's an ass and he didn't even deserve thirty seconds after what took place at school.
I still found myself leading him into my room. He shut the door behind him, turning the lock.
He was wearing dark joggers that he allowed to sag just a little bit with slip on sneakers and a white zip up hoddie. Under it was a graphic t-shirt. A orange backpack hugged on his shoulders while a snapback was worn backwards on his head.
I sat on the edge of my bed, crossing my arms. I was going to let him speak.
But something suddenly took over.
"You are the stupidest and most disrespectful ass hole alive. Do you honestly expect me to sit here and listen to whatever it is you have to say? You're such a jerk and a dick head and a-"
A finger suddenly came crashing on my lips, stopping my rant completely.
I looked up frantically, meeting Jake's gaze. His eyes were staring intently into mine.
"Shut the fuck up," he whispered, letting out a dry chuckle, "You're absolutely right. I'm possibly the biggest shit head Minnesota has to offer. But this shit head standing in front of you, is madly in love with your sassy ass."
I gulped.
"No matter how hard I try to fight it, I know It's no use. I'm madly in love with you Gabriella Reynolds and I know you're in love with me too."
"Stop trying to tell me how I feel you ass wipe-"
He gabbed my hand and placed it on the left side of my chest.
"You feel that?"
My heart was thumping out of my chest and I couldn't control it. I would always be in love with this boy, there's no denying it.
"I know you love me. The chemistry between us is like no other. Those lips of yours may try to deny it, but your heart tells me otherwise," he rubbed his thumb over my lips, slowly, "How I've missed these sweet soft lips,"
I didn't realize I was even standing until I looked down at my wobbly knees. Jake Carter will always have his spell casted on me.
I shut my eyes, taking a deep breath. I took a moment to think of the reason we were even in this situation to begin with.
"But you're the one that broke up with me, remember?"
"The only reason I did that was because I thought you still had feelings for Rhyan. When he first told me about the kiss I didn't believe him. I mean, he's obviously trying to make me jealous, right? But when I saw that look in his eye, I knew it was true. He's in love."
