"I'm so happy for you!" Sophia shrieked, slapping my arm.
"Ow!" I pulled my arm back, "If you're so happy for me, then you wouldn't be abusing me."
I climbed on top of her bed, leaving her on the floor. I grabbed a few pillows, making myself comfortable.
"You're such a wimp," she mumbled, "I think it's really cute that he came back from Cali just to be with you."
"Eh, it's alright." I admitted, biting back a smile.
She spread herself out on her bedroom floor and let out a long sigh.
"What's wrong?"
I reached for the bowl of popcorn that was next to her.My short arms had no chance of making it.
Sophia handed me the bowl, which I happily took. I shoved a handful of popcorn into my mouth, the buttery taste satisfying my taste buds.
"You hungry?" She joked, with a laugh.
I responded by throwing popcorn at her.
"I swear I'm going to kill Tyler!" She shouted, as she threw her phone on her forehead with a loud smack.
"He hasn't texted you back?"
"It's been two hours," she cried, making her body limp.
Right on cue, my phone vibrated.
I smiled innocently and opened the text.
Jake: Are you still up?
"What did lover boy say?" She asked, sighing miserably.
"He asked if I was up," I mumbled, texting him back.
I clicked my phone off and tossed it on the floor. It made a small 'thud' when it made contact with the hardwood floor.
"Come here, Soph." I groaned, opening up my arms.
She climbed on the bed sitting next to me. I wrapped my arms around her and rested my chin on her head as I rubbed her hair soothingly.
"I just don't know why he had to go," she whispered, "Two months is such a long time."
Tyler's parents had unfortunately been going through a rough patch for the past few years, and it was recently decided that they needed some time apart.
Tyler's dad had family in New York, so he decided to stay with his brother for a few months.
Tyler had two options; Stay with mom for the rest of the school year and go see dad during the summer, or go with dad for a few months and come back in time to finish the school year.
Which ever decision he made would mean time apart for them at some point. So it wasn't a 'win win' situation as they say.
He decided to leave for a few months, so he could spend the summer with Sophia.
She was devastated.
She didn't know if time apart from Tyler was a good thing. The last time they spent time apart, they almost broke up.
I sighed, hugging her tighter, "I know two months seems like a long time, love, but look at the bright side,"
"There is no bright side," She murmured.
"He'll be here before schools over, and for the whole summer."
She let out a sigh and made herself comfortable by resting her head on my thighs.
"When was the last time you two talked?"
"We haven't talked in hours," she said, bluntly.
"He's only been gone a day, Soph. Don't overthink, okay?"
