"This is the right thing to do, right?" You asked Sana as she pulled into the driveway of what was once yours' and Nayeon's shared home.
She turned off the engine and turned to face you.
"In your heart, is this what feels right to you?" She asked as she put her hand on your shoulder.
You stared at your hands that rested on your lap. Tears blurred your vision and your heart was physically aching. This is hard for you. But you also know that it's the right thing to do.
So, with tears in your eyes, you looked at Sana and nodded your head.
"I'll be right out here, waiting for you. You take your time."
You sniffled and wiped the tears from your eyes before you got out of the car.
Sana has been so wonderful to you these days.
All the girls have, even Nayeon, despite everything.
Sana's been letting you stay with her and she's let you have all the space you need.
But as a friend that genuinely cares for you, she's also let you cry on her shoulder when you needed to confide in her.
You asked her advice but she told you that you had to follow your heart. Only you knew what the right thing to do in this situation was.
No matter the outcome, you'd always have nine people that care very much for you.
You let yourself inside. Right away, Nayeon was coming downstairs.
When she stepped closer to you, you saw that her eyes were bloodshot. She's been doing a lot of crying, just like you.
"Hey." You whispered and she whispered the word right back to you. "I've made up my mind."
She could tell that it wasn't good news. From the way, you seemed so hesitant to let the words fall from your lips.
Like it was for her to tell you about that stupid mistake she made, she can tell the words on the tip of your tongue are hard for you to say.
"Can we sit and talk?"
She nodded wordlessly and followed you over to the sofa.
"You know how much I love you." You whispered. "I know you love me too."
"Very much." She said.
"But you do understand why I can't forgive you for this, right?"
She hung her head and nodded.
"It hurts me to do this. Because I love you so much and I don't want to lose you. But I know what's right and what isn't and I know that I can't stay with someone who slept with someone else, even though it was a mistake. Even though you regret it."
"I understand." She said through the tears in her eyes. "Trust me, y/n. I get it, I do. I think, if I were in your shoes, I'd feel the same way. You have to follow your heart. I don't blame you for not being able to forgive me right now. I can't forgive me right now either."
You lowered your head and stared down at your hands. They were so close to hers. You wished you could hold them again.
"Can we try to be friends? I mean, I know I messed up, but I don't want to lose you completely."
"We can work on that. I think that would be better for us than getting back together. But you have to give me time for that because it's hard for me to look at you the same right now."
"However long you need. A month, a year - I'll wait."
You took in a shaky breath.
"You have a place to stay, right? You're safe, wherever you'll be?"
"Yeah. I'm going to stay with Sana for a while until I get back on my feet."
Nayeon nodded and tried so hard to keep herself together, but she couldn't help the tears falling down her cheeks.
"I'll always love you. I'll always regret what I did."
"I know." You said.
"Whatever you do, wherever you go in life, I hope you're happy. That's all I want for you. That's what you deserve. You'll find someone else, someone to love you better. Someone who loves you just as much. Someone who doesn't make the same mistakes I did."
"Thank you, Nayeon. I hope the same for you."
You shared a quick hug and closed your eyes, letting a tear fall down your cheek.
She did the same and cherished this moment with you. She never wished for anything harder than she wished that, at that moment, she could freeze time and just have this moment with you. She didn't want to let you go.
But when you pulled away, she knew she had no other choice.
"I have to grab some of my stuff."
"Yeah, I understand. Go on ahead." She said and forced a smile as she watched you go upstairs to pack.
She followed you up there a minute later and watched from the doorway as you gathered up your clothes and your plushies, as well as other things like sentimental things you have from family that you kept safe in the closet and some things you just wanted to keep.
You met her at the doorway when you finished. With duffle bags ver your shoulders, you stared at each other with tears in your eyes.
"I wish you all the best." You said to her.
"You know I wish the same for you." She smiled through her tears.
She followed you down the steps and watched as you walked out the door.
You got into the car with Sana after putting your bags in the back.
You both gazed at Nayeon, who stood on the front porch and you waved goodbye as Sana drove away from what was once the home you thought you'd spend forever in with the love of your life.
Nayeon went back inside and packed some bags so she could go stay with Jeongyeon for a while, knowing that she just couldn't bear to stay in the house anymore herself since it no longer felt like home.
