confessing to you while she's drunk - part two (requested)

"Morning, Nayeon." You said as she entered the kitchen. "How are you feeling this morning?"

"Horrible." She said as she walked to your fridge, reaching for a bottle of water. "I've been throwing up all morning so far and my head won't stop pounding."

"Here, take these." You said and handed her a couple of pills as she sat down at the counter.

"Thank you." She said with a small smile before she swallowed the pills down.

"Well, I know you feel terrible but do you feel okay enough to have a serious conversation?"

"Oh, boy. What about? Did I do or say something last night?" She asked as her eyes got wide. "Please tell me I didn't embarrass myself at the club or something."

"Oh, no. Nothing like that. It's more so what you told me last night when I brought you back here and I need to talk to you about it."

"Oh. Alright. What is it?" She asked as she took another sip of water.

"We had a nice talk, although you were drunk. About our feelings for each other."

She just furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as the words left your lips.

"You told me that you're in love with me."

"I did?" She asked with a hint of worry in her eyes, her teeth sinking into her lip immediately. "Oh, Y/N, I-"

"And I was so happy to finally hear you say it because I feel the same way and I needed you to know that. I mean it." You said as you reached across the counter to hold her hand.

"Y/N... I'm not in love with you. I don't think of you like that." She said.

You felt your heart sink deep in your chest as she said that.

Here you were pouring your heart out to her, confessing your real feelings for her, only to find that it wasn't a mutual feeling.

It was crushing.

"I only see you as a friend."

Oh, that only made you feel worse.

You pulled your hand away from hers and stared at the counter wordlessly.

"I'm sorry if I said that. I was drunk, I had no idea what I was saying. If I hurt your feelings or made you feel bad, I'm truly sorry."

"Yeah, no, it's fine. It's no big deal." You said with a nervous chuckle. "It's fine, I get it."

You were trying to be brave and not let how you truly felt at that moment show.

But she could see that things were far from fine.

Your eyes were filling with tears, though you tried to blink them away.

Your heart was aching badly, though you tried to hide it from her.

You were falling apart and she didn't know what to do or say.

And feeling a little confused and crushed in that moment herself, she just felt as though that was her cue to leave and give you some space.

"I should go." She said. "I'll give you your shirt back later on. I'm sorry again."

You just nodded your head wordlessly as she grabbed her things and walked out the door, leaving you alone as tears fell down your cheek as you realized that things might be ruined between you now for good.
