"Come on, baby. Let's go home." Nayeon softly whispered as she led you out of the office and out to the car.

You were quiet on the drive home, just staring down at the collar that your sweet dog wore every day for as long as you can remember.

This morning has been rough for you. Your first-ever dog had passed away and the pain you feel is too much to express.

Once Nayeon put the car in park, you got out and used your key to go inside before you went upstairs to bed.

It was the last place you'd been able to hold your dog close before everything happened and it's the only place you want to be right now because you know you're bound to fall apart soon.

It wasn't long before you felt the bed dip as Nayeon laid down beside you, her hand instantly falling to your shoulder and her touch was comforting, helping you feel safe enough to let yourself crumble.

"Shh." She soothed and pulled you closer, her arms wrapping around you to hold you tight. "It's okay, baby."

"It doesn't feel okay." You cried. "My heart hurts."

She swallowed thickly as her eyes filled with tears.

"He was my whole world, Nayeon. He was my best friend."

"I know he was." She whispered softly.

"I miss him so much already. He made me so happy."

She nodded wordlessly as she brushed her fingers across your back, her lips brushing against your head as her tears started to fall.

"He was a great dog." She said. "We've only been together for a year so I didn't know him as well as you did. But I could tell he was the happiest dog in the world. You spoiled him and gave him a sense of belonging and gave him so much love, just as he did for you."

"He was my first ever dog." You sniffled. "I knew that when this day came, the day I'd have to let him go, it would be the hardest day of my life. But it hurts so much more than I thought it would."

"It's hard to let go." She said. "I understand that. But every day he spent in this world, you made it the best he could ever have. No one could've ever made him happier than you."

You started to sob, your heart hurting more intensely than ever before, and it only made Nayeon hold you tighter.

"I'm here for you." She spoke in your ear, her nails gently brushing against your back. "I know it doesn't feel like it, but everything is going to be okay. Just give it a little time. And, until then, I've got you and I won't let you go. I'll be here to make everything better, even if I can only do so by holding you in my arms."

You turned over and laid your cheek on her shoulder. Your eyes locked with hers and she wiped away your tears.

"Can you take tomorrow off? So you can hold me."

"Yes." She spoke softly. "I'll find a way to do that, I promise."

Your tears continued to fall, your heart still aching unbearably.

"I wish he was still here with me. I miss him lots."

"I know you do, baby." She said as she brushed her fingers through your hair.

You sobbed, clutching her shirt in your fingers as she held you close.

"I've got you. Just let it all out. I'm right here." She promised and kissed your head. "I'm not going to let you go."
