"Y/N? I'm home!" Nayeon called out as she walked through the front door. She placed her things down on the floor before looking around for you.
The day has been stressful, a little more so than usual. You've been feeling sick and Nayeon couldn't seem to focus enough already with that worry at the forefront of her mind all day.
But then she found out that Mina had also come down with some sickness and she couldn't make it into practice today, so it made practice a little harder without her there.
Not because they were upset, but rather because they missed her and it was harder to deal with the pressure without her.
She took off her shoes, staring down at her feet as she did so.
She noticed a familiar pair on the floor, right by yours. They didn't belong to either of you. She knows that for sure.
They looked like... Mina's.
She quickly rushed up the stairs and made her way into your shared room.
The door was almost fully closed, open just a tiny little crack. Nayeon took a peek inside and she saw Mina in your shared bed, laying right there beside you as you slept soundly together.
She moved just slightly and the floorboard creaked beneath her feet, alerting you both of her presence. You both sat up as she opened the door, standing there with a look of shock and disappointment in her eyes.
"What is going on here?" She asked as she looked between you and Mina.
"Just sleeping." You answered and pushed the blanket away, causing Nayeon to realize that you were wearing just her shirt... while you laid awfully close to her best friend in the bed you share together.
"Why is Mina here? I thought you were sick." She said as she folded her arms over her chest.
"Yeah, well, y/n texted me and said she wasn't feeling well so I came over and figured we'd hang out and take care of each other."
Nayeon furrowed her eyebrows. For the very first time, she was glaring at Mina, almost looking through her.
She already had her suspicions that you were being dishonest but it was only confirmed when Mina sat up against Nayeon's pillows and the blanket fell from her shoulders.
She saw that the shirt she had on... was yours.
"Why are you wearing y/n's shirt?" Nayeon yelled. "She was wearing that exact one before I left for practice this morning! Why do you have it on?"
You and Mina exchanged a glance before you sighed.
"Nayeon, it's not what you think." You tried to say, only for her to scoff and tangle her fingers in her hair.
"No, that's not working on me this time around." She said as she glared at the two of you.
"Really, Nayeon, it's true."
"Then why are you in my girlfriend's shirt? Why are you wearing just my shirt, y/n? Why were you curled up together in our bed? Answer me that!"
You hung your head and Nayeon shook hers.
"I can't believe this." She said before she went to walk out of the room.
"Nayeon, wait! Please don't go! Please hear us out."
She froze on her feet before she planned to walk out the door. She turned back around, although hesitantly.
"Nayeon, you trust me, right?"
"I think so. Right now, I'm not so sure." She responded and you couldn't deny it; that one hurt.
"Well, trust me and Mina now, when we tell you the truth."
"Fine. I'm waiting." She said and placed her hands on her hips, impatiently waiting to hear what she thought would be a lie falling right from your lips.
"It's a prank."
She was shocked, to say the least. She froze and became speechless. Her eyes went wide, filled with a look of disbelief.
"You're both in on this?"
Mina nodded.
"I can't believe you!"
She looked upset and understandably so. You thought she might walk out. You thought she'd need some space and time to think. Because this has to be the meanest prank you've pulled on her so far.
But she came over to you and sighed.
"That wasn't nice."
"We know. We're sorry." Mina said, a genuine look of sorrow in her eyes.
"Good. I forgive you. Just... don't do this again. You scared me so badly."
You nodded and opened your arms for her. She happily strode to you and threw her arms around you for a big hug.
But it didn't last as long as either of you hoped because she was pulling away quickly. She looked so concerned and you realized why when she placed her hand on your forehead.
"You're burning up."
"I told you I was feeling sick before you left." You chuckled weakly.
"Well, I thought that was just part of the prank! C'mon, my baby. I'll make you some soup."
"Am I running a fever too?" Mina asked and Nayeon felt her forehead before nodding.
"Come on, sick girls. Sit on the sofa and I'll make soup for everyone."
You giggled as she held your hand and began to lead you out of the room as Mina followed behind you.
The anger was long gone now as Nayeon's protective nature flooded over her. You were forgiven, but she'd be fussing over you, and her best friend, for the rest of the day.
