The dip of the mattress as Nayeon got out of bed woke you up. She's been sick over the last couple of days, a case of the flu taking such a toll on her body that she can barely even get out of bed to use the bathroom on her own or make it in there to brush her teeth.
You rubbed the sleep from your eyes and slowly opened them. You didn't know where she was or what she was doing, but you were concerned about her. You wondered if she just had to use the bathroom. The light was off, but you still thought that's where she was.
"Nayeon? Baby, where are you?" You spoke as you got out of bed, pushing away the covers to get up and investigate where your sick girlfriend could possibly be. You turned the bathroom light on, only to find it empty.
"Nayeon?" You called out, this time louder than before as you began to frantically look from room to room for her. "Nayeon? Where are you? Please answer me. You're worrying me!"
You rushed downstairs, wondering why she'd even think about coming down here on her own when she's so sick and weak.
But, at last, you knew where she was when you heard the sound of a glass against the countertop. You rushed into the kitchen and found Nayeon holding onto the counter with her forehead resting on it.
"Nayeon!"
You ran to her side and gently placed your hand onto her back.
"What are you doing down here? You scared me! I didn't know where you were at and I know how weak you are."
She groaned as you rubbed her back in circles. You realized that something was really wrong. With your heart pounding in your chest, you asked,
"What's wrong?"
"I'm sorry," she mumbled. "I didn't want to wake you up. I thought I could get my own water. I wasn't thinking. I'm really dizzy. Feels like the room is spinning. I can't move, I can't lift my head.' She swallowed thickly, feeling that awful sick feeling return.
"It's okay, Nayeon. I'm here. Just try to take some deep breaths and stay still."
You hoped that in a few minutes, it'd pass. You thought, eventually, you could get her back to bed. But you were very wrong. She gripped the counter tighter, groaning as she lifted her head slowly and spoke seven words that absolutely terrified you.
"I think I'm going to pass out."
You went wide-eyed. You didn't even have the chance to even say a word, because as soon as those words left her lips, she was fainting in your arms.
Your heart was in your throat, a rush of fear flooding over you like never before. You gently laid her on the floor before you tried to get her to open her eyes.
"Nayeon! Nayeon, please, wake up!"
But she didn't.
Scared, you ran upstairs and returned to her side in a heartbeat with the phone against your ear as you called for an ambulance. You pleaded for them to hurry. Despite seeing her push herself countless times when she's in practice or on stage, you haven't ever seen her pass out before.
You heard the sirens just a moment later. It was just then that she opened her eyes. You watched her eyelashes flutter against her cheeks before she hummed and slowly let her eyes open, meeting your worried gaze immediately.
"Y/N?" She mumbled and tried to get up, but you gently pushed her back down.
"No, Nayeon. Don't move. Stay still. The ambulance is almost here."
"What?" She asked, obviously confused.
"You passed out."
She closed her eyes as she began to feel nauseous again. But she didn't move a muscle, not even as the paramedics knocked on the door and you left her side to go let them in.
They looked her over, doing things like checking her sugar and her vitals, as well as her temperature.
"You've had the flu for about two days now?"
Nayeon nodded slowly.
"Yeah, you're a little dehydrated. I don't think you need to go to the hospital. You just need to drink lots of water. Stay hydrated. You're sick, so you're losing a lot of fluids from throwing up. Drink some water and get some rest. If it happens again, go into the hospital."
You nodded and rubbed Nayeon's shoulder as you helped her sit up. She didn't feel dizzy or nauseous anymore, but getting her back up to bed wouldn't be easy when she's still not feeling great.
The paramedics left a few minutes later, leaving you and Nayeon alone. She leaned against you, weakly wrapping her arms around you as she put her cheek on your chest.
"You're okay." You whispered softly as you rubbed her back. "You scared me so badly."
"I'm sorry." She muttered as she lifted her head to stare at you with sad, guilty eyes.
"Don't be. Let's just worry about you getting better." You said and smiled a little as you brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "Can you make it upstairs?"
"If you hold me."
You kissed her warm forehead and helped her stand up.
"Happily." You grinned and then helped her up the stairs, keeping her steady and secure as you helped her up the stairs to bed.
You tucked her in under the sheets and went down to grab her some cold water before returning to her side. You made sure she drank as much as she could, wanting her to feel better and keep hydrated.
"Tired?" You asked as you laid down beside her, only for her to shake her head as she curled up next to you.
You turned on her favorite show and ran your fingers through her hair, watching her as she watched the tv.
With how much you love and care for her, you won't stop worrying about her until she's feeling like herself again.
You only hope she'll be better in no time.
