After a couple of long and busy weeks, Nayeon was happy to have a day to walk around the city and let the warm golden rays of the sun shining down.

It seemed like it was gonna be a beautiful day! From the warm weather to the birds singing happily as she walked through the city, she was in a great and cheery mood; feeling as though nothing could possibly bring her down.

She had a few things she wanted to do. But she figured she'd stop off at a cute little cafe down the road and grab a cozy drink before she carried on with her day.

Walking into the shop, she heard the soft music playing and the bells on the door jangle. A cheery voice came from behind the counter, one belonging to a worker that had heard the bells on the door signal that a new customer had come inside.

Nayeon took a few steps forward but quickly froze on her feet when she heard something familiar.

She shook her head and let out a shaky breath, thinking it was only her mind playing tricks on her. Her feet began to move again. She took a few steps forward but froze once more when she heard the sound.

A laugh... your laugh.

She knew it belonged to you when she heard it the second time. She'd recognize it anywhere, even though it's been eight months since you broke up. But despite the time that's gone by, the sound still brought a smile to her face. It was still intuitive, the smile on her face that appeared upon hearing the beautiful, infectious sound.

She turned her head and she was surprised to see your face.

Oh... you still look so beautiful.

You sat in a chair in the back of the cafe with your phone pressed to your ear and your gaze down at the straw you stirred around in your drink. Your hair was pulled back and you had a sweater on. It was familiar, too. It's the one she'd often steal from you when you'd leave it behind at her place or she'd go to your home.

She knew she should look away and carry on with her day. After all, it's been so long since you last saw each other and things just didn't work when you were together. She should just let you go.

But she couldn't look away from you. You've got her mesmerized like all those times before. You put that beat back in her heart at last.

And, soon enough, you were lifting your head and your eyes locked from across the room and she could've sworn that her heart could just burst right out of her chest at that very moment.

"Nayeon!"

You smiled at her and her knees felt weak beneath her.

"Hey you," she spoke and she wondered if her voice seemed to tremble at all like her hands were. She was messing with the strings of her hoodie and looked down at her feet to try to calm her racing heart. She was so excited to see you again. "How have you been?"

"Good!" You replied happily. "It's nice to see you! How have you been lately?"

What does she say?

She hasn't really felt like herself since you broke up. She's begun to find a little happiness again, but not even close to the happiness she once felt with you.

"I've been doing alright." She said. "Can I sit?"

You parted your lips, ready to speak when the bells on the door jangled once more. It caught your attention and you looked away from her, and her gaze quickly followed yours.

"Y/n!"

Her heart was starting to sink in her chest when her eyes landed on Sihyoen, standing across the room with a smile as wide as yours.

But it was impossible to hide the hitch of her breath and the sadness in her eyes when you lifted your hand to cup Sihyeon's cheek as she walked to you and kissed your forehead lovingly.

Her happiness was quickly fading and the last little bit of it was gone when she saw the ring on your finger.

It didn't take long for her to put all of the pieces together or for the beat in her heart, she felt moments ago, only for it to fade yet again.

"Nayeon, this is my fiancée, Sihyeon."

Oh... there it was.

Fiancée.

It hurt. Especially since she once only imagined that word falling from your lips when you were talking to family and friends about her. She never pictured it happening like this, even though you've been over for a while now.

"I know who she is." Nayeon said, putting on her best fake smile as she looked toward your fiancee who was smiling at her. "Your fiancée. That's amazing. I'm happy for you."

She was trying so hard to hide it. She had to hold her breath so the words that she's been trying to hold back from saying to you wouldn't all start pouring out in that exact moment.

You didn't need to know that though she's tried to see and show that she's gotten over you, she really hasn't recovered from a heartache so strong, so gut-wrenching. That she hasn't thought back countless times to the day that you had no other choice but to let go because time zones and distance and schedules were becoming too overwhelming to deal with. That she can hardly breathe without you and she misses you and she's feared that you've moved on.

No... you didn't need to know that. You've moved on now. You're happier.

She could see the stars in your eyes and it shattered her heart when she thought back to the times when you looked at her that way.

"Nayeon? Are you alright?" You asked with a frown when you saw her standing there, frozen and clearly saddened.

"Yeah." She said. "Hey, I gotta go. I have... rehearsals with the girls." She lied, biting the inside of her cheek so she wouldn't fall apart right then and there.

"It was nice to see you again and so nice to see you, Sihyoen." She said, swallowing the lump in her throat. "I wish you both all the love and happiness the world has to offer."

Nayeon quickly walked away and stepped toward the door. She turned back, hoping maybe you'd be looking back at her. But instead, your head was on Sihyeon's shoulder as you talked about your day so far with her, smiling as she kissed your face.

Nayeon blinked away her tears as she walked out the door and walked home, finding that the day wasn't gonna be as great as she once thought it'd be now that she knows you've happily moved on while she's still missing you.
