Maya's Sister

Carina's POV
We were sitting in an exam room waiting for Callie to come back with Mia's X-rays.
Maya was completely unstable. She had no clue what to do. She didn't want to get Mia worried but she knew something was going on. She was pacing back and forth until I told her to sit down since she was getting Mia more and more worked up.

Mia's POV
I was laying down on a gurney with an IV to my arm filling me up with painkillers. I could tell how nervous Maya was and how ease Carina was.
Seemed like Carina eased completely the environment
Callie had been in to see me before getting me to X-ray. She seemed really nice and definitely made me calm down till now. But in the heat of the moment she really did calm me down. I was getting a bit worked up since she wasn't coming back with my X-rays.

Carina's POV
I could began to see Callie and Arizona discussing outside, damn. If Arizona was here it was because Mia probably needed surgery.
Callie made a sign for us to go outside talk to her as Arizona made her way into the room
"hey" she smiled at Mia who had almost fall asleep, as she heard her words she quickly turned to her and looked kinda confused since it wasn't Callie the one there.
"hey" she said looking at Arizona a bit confused as Maya and I made our way out of the room to meet Callie.

Mia's POV
I was almost asleep when I heard this voice which wasn't Callie's voice, as I opened my eyes I caught eye on a blonde women who had some kinda huge smile.
"I'm Arizona" she said as she got closer and I sat up "how's the pain?" she asked and I kinda shrugged "hurts less" I nodded and she checked my IV and chart as I could see Maya and Carina talking with Callie out of the room "They'll be in here in some minutes" she said warmly

Maya's POV
"so her ligaments are broken?" I asked worriedly and Callie nodded
"they are, and, we need to operate in order to fix them" she said and I nodded "Arizona told me about the situation with your parents" said Callie and I nodded "In Mia's records your parents are the adults who are written down, but in the meantime we can say it's an emergency and get her up to the OR" she said "then you'll get the chance to get yout parents upspeed"
"thank you" I said as I looked into the room to see Mia and Arizona chatting, I knew how she'd feel once we broke the news to her.

Callie walked into the room followed by me and Carina. As Callie hanged up the X-Ray Mia looked more and more confused
"Mia, I'm so sorry honey seems like I've got bad news" said Callie and Mia's face fell down "you've torned and snapped your cruciate ligaments"
"what?" said Mia totally lost
Callie nodded and said "we need to get you into surgery to fix them"
"How long will I be out of the pitch?" asked Mia with a worried expresion and after seing Callie's face she said "I won't be back for the tournment?"
Callie shook her head and said "it's a delicate injury and it needs to be correctly healed"
"I won't be able to play in the nationals" said Mia as she buried her head in her hands

I felt so useless, I was just standing there, completly useless not knowing what to do or say. Carina squeezed my shoulder tightly and it seemed like Carina was also so disappointed.
"What if I don't get the surgery done?" asked Mia all of a sudden as she cleaned her tears making us all look at her in surprise
"Honey that's, that's not a option in this cases" said Arizona
"Let's suppose you don't get the surgery" said Callie as she sat down on a bench in front of her "you go out and continue your sport rhythm" she said "in some years. Even less. You'll end up having joint instability, meniscus tears. And cartilage will start to degenerate" said Callie
"But it doesn't hurt now" said Mia
"That's cause you're on high open painkillers" said Arizona "but pain will be there"
"I know it sucks. I know. But, solution here it's the surgery" said Callie
Mia looked at me in the eye and I could see her world falling apart in front of her.

Carina's POV
I could see how Mia was trying to show being strong with us. She was trying to show like nothing was getting to her but, it was just. Probably imposible.
As an intern came over to get Mia prepped for surgery we walked outside following Callie and Arizona.
"We'll get her upstairs as soon as possible" said Arizona smiling
"It's gonna take two to three hours. Not more" said Callie "Maya she's young. She'll have a full recovery" smiled Callie and maya nodded
I could feel how sad Maya was. She was devastated.
As Maya went over to sign the surgery papers I walked into Mia's room. She was already prepped for surgery and her face showed how disappointed she was.
"Hey" I smiled as I walked in
"Hey" she said in a low voice as she placed down her phone
"Everything's ready and everything's gonna work out just fine" I smiled and she nodded
I got closer and sat down on her bed looking at her "everything will be just fine." I said
"Why do I need to get the surgery?" She said "I rather break my knee completely, at least I'll be able to play the tournament"
"This surgery Bella is so much simpler than a complete knee replacement. Just imagine how long it would take for you to be back if you had to replace your whole knee." I said
I could see how she nodded but she was definitely not looking at me. Not sure if she was even listening to me.
Maya walked into the room and got closer to me, she placed her arm around my waist and her other arm on Mia's shoulder
"You ready?" She asked
Mia nodded sadly and before Maya could say something Callie and Arizona walked in to take Mia upstairs
"Ready honey?" Asked Arizona as she smiled warmly
Maya stood next to me holding my hand tightly as we saw Mia's gurney being pushed by Arizona and Callie.
"She'll be alright Bella" I said as I hugged her and she looked at me
"I need to call my mom. Let her know right?" She asked
I nodded and said "yes. Bella you do."
