They Can't Do Us Apart

Maya's POV
I couldn't stop pacing back and forth. I got up. Sat down. Walked. Until Carina came into Mia's room and grabbed my hands
"Stop" she said firmly
"Sorry I'm nervous." I said as I looked at her
"I know. But she is doing great. Callie is working slow and steady. She's doing everything perfect" carina said calmly
"Okay. Okay I know I know" I said quickly
"Maya stop" she said again and I nodded
"Did you talk to your mom? She asked and I shook my head "Maya you need to call her"
"Carina what am I supposed to tell her? Oh hey mom. Remember the daughter you abandoned and left in the streets? Oh she's getting operated. Hope you can drop off some flowers" I said sarcastically
"You just tell her and that's it. No need of details. Of past talking no nothing. You just tell her." Said Carina "she's leaving with us and she's not going back to that house" she said sternly
I nodded and said "thank you. You're the best."
She pecked my lips and said "she'll be just fine. We'll be with her and she's going to be just fine"
As we were talking Arizona popped into the room "hey" she said walking in "everything went just perfect" she said and I sighted in relief "Callie is just finishing the bandaging up she's really taking her time. She doesn't want Mia taking out the bandages" she laughed making both of us chuckle.
"Thank you so much Arizona" I said and Arizona chucked "oh, another thing. Callie really insisted on the athlete having no pain so, her meds are quite up. That's going to be fun" she said and Carina bursted into laughter.
"Oh I need to see that" laughed Carina and both of us followed Arizona

Carina's POV
As we followed Arizona into Mia's room we found her already awake talking with Callie.
"I'm not negotiating physical therapy" laughed Callie
"Oh come on. There's gotta be something" said Mia who was totally hanged up on meds
"We're still doing this?" Laughed Arizona as she led the girls over to Mia's bed
"Harder than convincing a gangster" said Mia "I'm totally winning the negotiation" after saying that she caught eye of Maya and Carina in the room "Maya!" She said quite happy "and carina!" She said again and both of the girls smiled
"Hey you" said Maya as she got closer "how are you feeling?" Asked Maya
"I'm feeling sooo good." Laughed Mia "feeling like I don't feel anything" she said
I laughed and said "how did Callie behave?"
"8/10" said Mia
"What did I do wrong?" Laughed Callie
"Oh you're Callie" she laughed "10/10"
"That's better" smiled Callie "okay you need to get rest. You should be sleeping by now actually"
"Not tired." Said Mia
"Oh yes you are" laughed Callie "let's do a competition. The first one to count to 10 with their eyes closed wins."
In seconds Mia was completely out. I could see how Maya was quite eased after seeing how chill Mia was
"I'll go call my parents" said Maya as she excused herself.
"Hey so, this is the anaesthesia playing it's role" said Arizona and I nodded
"What we mean is. Despite painkillers it could be painful once she wakes up" said Callie "I just wanted her first impression post op to be good. Since she was quite upset before we put her down in the OR"
"Yeah. Seems this is the worst nightmare in an athletes life" I said and I nodded
"So, I'll go explain you three the post op indications once she is awake" said Callie as she made her way out of the room followed by Arizona.
I sat down on the chair next to Mia's bed. She seemed to ease laying down. Fast asleep. After a couple minutes maya came in with a shocked face
"What's wrong?" I asked as I instantly noticed
"I called my mom" she said and I looked at her confused
"Did your dad pick up the phone?" I asked trying to understand what was going on
"No no, she did" she said "she did just, she's not gonna come. She didn't even really cared" she said shocked with her phone in her hand still
"Maya what are you talking about?" I said as I looked down at Mia laying down on the bed
"Carina she just. Didn't cared. She's not gonna come, she didn't even twitched" said Maya
I got up and got closer to her as I got her phone from her hand and looked at her in the eye.
"She didn't even cared" repeated maya still in shock
I hugged her tightly and realised how shocked she was about what had just happened.

Maya's POV
She didn't even twitch. She just didn't cared. She just said "oh okay, something else?"
Her daughter had just undergone surgery and she didn't even twitched. Couldn't believe what had just happened.
I was sitting on the couch next to the chair where Carina was doing some paperwork. Carina had told be that Mia wouldn't wake up in the same mood she had fallen asleep since medication would have gone.
Carina lifted her head as she heard Mia murmur something. I got up and stood next to Carina's chair as we looked at her definitely waking up.
"Hey" she said in quite a low voice
"What a nap" I smiled and she looked at me
"Did I sleep that much?" She asked as she tried to look at her watch and noticed it was gone
"No you didn't" smiled Carina "how are you feeling?" She asked
She twitched her face a bit as she moved and said "hurts a bit but, quite okay"
I nodded and said "Callie's gonna be here soon. She said she needs to explain a few things"
As she was trying to keep her eyes opened Carina said with a warm smile"go back to sleep. We'll wake you up once she gets here"
She instantly fell asleep again and I looked at Carina
"Do I need to tell her?" I asked "I mean how do I tell her?"
Carina looked at me and said "I don't think telling her now is the best idea"
"You always know what do and say" I smiled
Carina got closer to be as she snuggled into me on the couch and kissed my cheek "step by step we'll figure out what to do"
