After two nights at the hospital Mia was discharged and ready to head home

Maya's POV
We were standing outside of her room with Carina as Callie finished placing the splint in Mia's knee.
"She's gonna ask you know" said Carina as she walked over to me
"What do you mean?" I asked confused
"She's gonna ask herself how it's possible that her mom didn't show up" said Carina
"I can't. I can't look at her and tell her that." I said and Carina turned to me and nodded
"I know" she said as se placed her arms around me and kissed my cheek.
Callie came out of the room and chuckled "she's refusing on crutches. But it's the only way she'll be able to actually move"
I chucked and said "thanks Callie. For everything"

Carina's POV
We walked in to Mia's room. She sitting in the edge of the bed looking at the huge splint she had on her knee.
"Hey" smiled Maya as she walked in and I followed her
"Hey" she said weekly
"Ready to head home?" I asked and she nodded weakly
"I'll go sign the discharge papers" said Maya as she rushed out of the room.
"Ready?" I asked as extended my hand I could see all the sadness in her eyes "hey" I said with a smiled "everything's gonna be okay" I said and she nodded
Maya came into the room and walked over to the bed as I walked over to grab Mia's crutches.
She tried to get up from the bed on her own and almost lost balance as Maya caught her in time.
"Wow wow" said Maya "easy" she said as she grabbed her.
Mia nodded and said "seems I really don't feel it"
I rushed over with the crutches and said "that feeling won't last for long"
After Maya got her on the crutches the three of us walked out of the room.
"I'll check on my last patient and head home" I said as Maya nodded and both of them made their way to the parking lot.

Maya's POV
The car drive was quite quiet. She was just looking at nowhere. Just nothing.
As we walked inside the house Mia walked up to her room and I began to get dinner ready for when Carina got home.
As I got everything settled I read the messages in my phone

How's Mia doing? Hope she's feeling better. And how are you doing Big Sis?

After texting her back I jogged over to Mia's room to find her on her phone.
As I walked in she turned to me.
"How you feeling?" I asked as I walked over and sat down on her bed
"Quite okay" she said as she looked at me
"Does it hurt?" I asked as I handed her a pillow "Callie said in needs to be elevated"
"Maya it's okay" she said kinda weakly
"Did you talk to your coaches?" I asked
"What is there to talk to them about" she said looking at her hands "I won't be able to play again in who knows how long" she said
"Mia you can't have that kinda thinking" I said
"It's not my thinking" said Mia "it's what Callie said"
"I'll come back in a minute" I said as I heard the door unlock. I kissed her top head and walked out of her room into the living room to find Carina coming in.
"How's she feeling?" She asked worried
I shrugged my shoulders and said "holding in there I guess"
I placed my hands round her waist and kissed her cheek "missed you" I said
"I'll go get changed and we can have dinner" she said as she kissed my lips and walked over to our room.
As everything was settled for dinner I walked over to Mia's room
As I walked in she was basically asleep
"Hey" I said as I slowly shook her and she slowly opened her eyes
"Dinner's ready" I said
"Not hungry" she said as she placed her head back again on the pillow
"You need to eat something. Painkillers are going to make a hole in your stomach" I said moving her again "come on"
"I'll eat in the morning" she said almost murmuring
"You don't need to go over to the living room. I just need you to eat something" I said and she shook her head as she closed her eyes.
As I walked back to the living room I found Carina in the couch
"Hey" she said
"Seems I can't even manage to get her out of bed" I said
"Come here" said Carina as I walked over to the couch and snuggled into her.
After being snuggling for a while we had dinner and we went back to the couch with some glasses of wine.
Carina looked at her watch and said "it's been over 6 hours. Did she take the antibiotic?"
"I'll go make sure." I said as I got up and headed towards Mia's room.
As I walked in Mia was sleeping, had fallen asleep with her AirPods on.
I slowly walked over to her and took them off and she woke up instantly and her face twitching in pain as she moved her leg.
"Easy easy" I said
"No no, music" she murmured
I sat down next to her and got her back down "easy" I said
She laid back down and before she could fall asleep I said "it's been 6 hours did you take the antibiotic and the painkiller?"
"Doesn't hurt" she said
"That's not what I asked" I said and she was turning on her side to fall asleep again
"Mia, Mia I'm talking to you" I said shaking her
"What" she said
"Antibiotic." I said
"Not feeling okay for it" she said and I got up to grab them
"I'm not asking if you want to take it" I said as I walked over back to her "I'm telling you, you need to take it"
"Leave me alone" she said as she buried her face in the pillow again
"Take the pill and you'll go back to sleep" I said
"Leave me alone Maya" she said again placing her pillow on her face.
"Do I need to get Carina in here to explain why you need the painkiller and the antibiotic?!" I said loosing my patience
"Just leave me alone Maya" she said now in a weak tone.
I sighted and walked out of the room before I lost my patience completely and yelled at her or something.
As I walked into the living room I could see Carina looking at me.
"No painkiller, no antibiotic. I just. Can't" I said lifting my arms
She got up and said "not every patient is easy."
"Yeah. This could be the worst patient ever" I said
"Oh. Cause you're an amazing patient" she laughed
"I mean it. I can't even get her to..." I began and she interrupted me
"Maya. Maya. It's okay." She smiled "it's the first day she's back. She's still assembling what has happened." She said "Yeah just.. she won't listen to me" I sighted
"She does listen to you. And that's exactly why she tells you she's not taking it." I smiled "she's a teenager Maya. Course she won't obey the person who is in charge of her"
"I hate how you are always that calm" I said as I placed my arms round her waist and kissed her.

Carina's POV
After cuddling for some time with Maya we both headed over to our room. As maya was brushing her teeth I walked out of the room
"Where you going?" She asked as she followed me
"First 8 hours since she's been out of IV antibiotics she needs to start taking antibiotics and her meds are gonna disappear soon. Pain is gonna start hitting her" I explained and Maya nodded
"You rather talk to her on your own?" She asked and I said
"Let me try and if there's no results I'll call for support" I laughed and she chuckled.
As I walked into Mia's room I found her fast asleep. I was glad to see she was sleeping but I did needed her to take the antibiotic. The painkillers didn't really worried me. She would be asking for those anytime soon.
As I got the water and everything ready I got closer to her bed and rubbed her shoulder
"Bella" I said softly "hey Mia can you wake up for me please" I said and her eyes quickly popped open.
"Hey" she said in a low sleepy voice "Carina?" She asked confused
"Si" I smiled sweetly "how are you feeling?" I asked
"Quite okay" she said and I noticed her face twitching as she tried to move"
I smiled and said "It's been 8 hours Bella, I need you to take this" I said handing her the pills and she looked at them with quite a disguised face
"Can it be tomorrow" she asked as she tried to get back to sleep again
I gently shook her again and said "no bambina." I stroked her hair till she opened her eyes again and said "just take the antibiotic and you can go back to sleep till tomorrow morning" I said and she looked at me
"It kills my stomach" she murmured
I nodded and said "that's cause you haven't eaten anything."
"Not really hungry" she said as she turned to look at me
"I know." I nodded seeing how sad she looked "just I really need you to take the antibiotic." I said
I could see she was really fighting sleep and agreed on the antibiotic so I'd leave her alone. But course she didn't wanted to kick me out like she did to Maya. I helped her sit up and handed her the pill and the water and waited till she swallowed it.
As she was basically falling asleep and falling off the bed I helped her back to laying down and waited till she closed her eyes
"Night Bella" I said as I turned off her light
As I walked out of her room I found maya standing outside
"You're an angel" she said as she pecked my lips
I kissed her back and said "she didn't take any painkiller."
Maya nodded and said "you know. Back home my dad wouldn't let me take painkillers unless they were for running while being injured."
I couldn't believe what I was listening. It just broke my heart to listen to all of that. Knowing that probably Mia was in an unbearable pain now and she wouldn't take a pill just cause she had been told to pull it through.
I looked at Maya and hugger her tightly and kissed her cheek.
