So here I am sitting wide awake on my bed since 6:30 of morning thinking what the hell is wrong with my life. But again I made the decisions and I am the one who has to suffer the consequences. Let's face it, and with that I got ready for my morning workout that includes a few stretches and some cardio.
This took me an hour after which I got ready for my morning shift. With morning shift I meant that I am a newly graduated medical student who will undergo certain amount of practice under highly qualified professionals before I can be independent for my own practice or setup or go under some kind of specialization, in short I am a resident. ughhhh !!!!!
I was supposed to live in my own apartment but apparently my mom had enough of me drowning in work and insisted on me staying with them, it feels good to be able to live with the family but again sometimes you need privacy and can't keep hanging on to your family and especially when they don't give a mere shit about your work.
I am fine.
I grab my bag and step down the stairs of my house, make my way to the kitchen make myself some coffee and stuff my mouth with my mom's special peanut butter cookies also leaving a note mentioning my early morning shift and how I can be late today. With that being done I stride out of the house and make my way towards the hospital.
Sigh - this is gonna be a long day
I signed myself at the entrance of the hospital indicating my presence just in time. I realized I have barely anytime to put on my coat and get to work and that being done I grab my notepad and some lists and head out to work with my other medicolleagues.
So far nothing hectic happened that could've lead to chaos or any kind of similar situation, though we had few cases like alcohol overuse, stab injury, a kid with sprain and similar.
By this time, it was almost lunch break which brings me to the cafeteria. Honestly, the hospital cafeteria never had anything I like so I'd always prefer showing myself out to some other sort of café or have myself a lunch packed from home, but today the case is different.
We have gathered here because one of my team mates or let's just say who I work with wants to announce something. I wonder what is it she's so excited sharing about, is she engaged, getting married, pregnant?
All my thoughts vanished when she opened her mouth, Tina is almost whispering ear to ear "You guys know that we are gonna have an annual hospital round check , right" to which we nodded in unison with some yeahs. Tina continues "there are rumours that Dr. Mike is gonna be the one this time. I meant that he's gonna do a round check on our hospital staff. I've heard rumours about how strict he is, especially to the newbies."
Nate chimed in between "I've also heard that dude is a pain in as ass to the newbies especially, I mean comm'on don't you guys think he is supposed to go easy on us, like we've barely graduated and are still in a learning phase, I get all the responsibility shit and all but that dude is scary for nothing." To this he again received certain yeahs and nods.
To be very honest I was scared for a bit, but again I am confident enough that I'll just do myself fine and won't be a disappointment. This is the only thing that scares the shit out of me. Like I had to literally fight my dad to be a med student and make my way through a med school. Not flexing but my GPA was good enough to take me to med school so I did it anyway and here I am in my white coat, maybe worrying about what's gonna happen next.
I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't realized Nate already called me twice reminding how break is over and we need to get back to our duties.
By the time I was done it was almost 8 which made me take a look at my phone while I was on my way back home , I had certain messages including mom saying something about dinner and Lina asking for a call back.
